Running DX9 with headtracker on my projection screen indeed used to have head movement affect what you saw in the mirror. No idea why anyone would think removing that was a good idea...hopefully they bring it back in VR one day.

Thank you. Yes, did those changes as well.

It sounds like the VR performance just isn't there yet in RF2. Hopefully, more optimization to come.

Yes I hear what you're saying but I spent a cart load of cash on the peripherals so get a bit sad seeing them in the corner with the empty bank book. :(

Some 3rd party tracks are very unoptimised , best Test & set based on isi/397 dx11 content with official cars
    No or low post process,
    No AA ( or level 1 )
    Track detail low
Shadows off or low ( med if you can)

    Other settings med
    Including textures med
    Road reflection off
    Rain low

    Viewable cats max 12

See how you get on with this settings

Obviously you could go but higher if your completely rock solid with above settings , but be sure to keep some decent headroom

Send them here and I can give you occasional updates (with photos!) on how they're being used

Yet another example of S397 pandering to the masses with non-sim stuff... :D

Is Studio 397 planning to do more performance optimization for VR? It's still really bad compared to competition and it sucks because rFactor 2's physics, AI and ffb are the best!

I've just bought an oculus and think none of my sims look good. Probably not setup properly though.
rF2 looks better than AC to me but I'm blown away that they could charge so much for something that looks that poor.
Being in the car is nice but I expected more tbh.
Maybe in a few days time I might change my mind once I've learnt more about it.

New tech is always massively overpriced, prices drop when that tech becomes more mainstream with a wider variety of manufacturers, I mean I paid £200 for a 64MB mp3 player when they first came out...now I can get a 32GB one for next to nothing!

As for personal choice well VR is worse visually than a monitor, but for me it's the immersion that overrides the poor visuals and that immersion cannot be beaten for me :)

I have had the rift for about 9 months. Mine just broke and is likely going back to oculus for repair. I tried to go back to 2D racing and I simply cant. I had a triple monitor setup prior to the rift and ended up giving one of the monitors to my nephew... so now I have a single 22 inch monitor. It's not enough.

You will be shocked at how quickly you adapt to the lower resolution and become dependant on the 3D vision.

Yeah it's almost like dont go VR because it just ruins anything thats not VR , lol its pretty awesome and the lower res is only an issue if you let it .
I tried AMS for the first time is ages and as good as it felt and to be honest, looked, I just simply couldnt enjoy it without my HMD on !

The more I drive the more I like it. I was running in 4k on a 43" Sony so you can imagine the shock of the lower quality.
My main reason for buying an oculus is for the spacial awareness. I don't have room for 3 screens so opted for VR.
Your right about getting used to it quickly once you start concentrating on the driving.
    Thanks for the replies.

One week of use and you will be past the point of return to screens. So be aware....;):)

The looking into the corners in VR is just something that has no comparison on flat screens...triple or not.

I just dropped mine last night - after several drops, this is the one that broke it. Tried a race with my monitors, and am going out to purchase a new rift the minute the stores open today.

I don't have that kind of coin, so I have to wait for mine to be fixed. I have been working with Oculus on how best to do that. Hopefully, it will be resolved quickly.
