    Benelux GT3 Series hype!!!
I really love the idea of having realistic race weekends, with one day for practice, one for qualifying, one for race(s). Now imagine that plus limited tyre sets. I swear I'd stop complaining about this game.

Very interesting in several ways - the simracing history; as an rFactor 2 player; as a software engineer; as a dabbler in mod making; the snippets of the new UI; the upcoming competition structure. Some big bits left out (but then Marcel was talking for over an hour even without them) like AI; how the physics of the car, track and user inputs come together to make the game; net code; how they test the software. But add all that in an you have a degree course in simracing software, not just a talk!

with the new UI & hopefully easier to get that "sweetspot" in setting up hardware etc
    rfactor2 could rise alot

in rfactor2 if an online structure is going to be introduced with the cloud basedstuff & laser tracks iracing could say goodbye to alot of its members

Limited tyre sets would really spice up league racing.

Oh no! last time I watched Marcel talk about rF2 he cost me alot of money ;) (RD interview with rain preview) I bought a new pc so I could run it....no regrets there tbh.
I love his passion for our hobby

Awesome talk. I can see opportunity to track race accidents in that Cloud system and come up with some sort of Safety Rating. Future is going to be really interesting.
It seems like focus is on online experience mostly, but hopefully AI will at least be in maintenance mode, as it awesome tool for more relaxed/less time demanding racing.

This was very interesting and enlightening for someone who also works with software. If anything it shows how much underlying complexity there is that the end customer doesn't "see". The UI and competition system is a huge piece itself and I sometimes get the feeling that this was a little too big piece to handle in one step, maybe it should/could be released to us customers in smaller parts.

no.....the color of the tire would be off one shade, OR on Thursdays the track is more often sunny but on Fridays it has been historically cooler OR making the weekend event work broke the replay of older content OR your cousin was there on that weekend but the track builders didn't get his image in the crowd..... We are sim racers....we live to complai...I mean RACE!

Marcel did say something about the new UI being modded by third parties, perhaps like the re-skinning in rF1’s Historix, perhaps deeper changes? The UI as a bit of software lends itself to that (though not as rF2 has implemented it!) and it's not part of the “Crown Jewels" of the code (the physics, graphics, etc.) so S397 could make it moddable like the cars and tracks. I’m thinking of something like Assetto Corsa’s easy-to-use plugin API.

Or the so-called 'real data' was off by 1.

The screen shot of the VR in the video has a guy wearing an Oculus, yet no native Oculus support in RF2.

Native? Not sure what you mean. rF2 runs with my Rift on SteamVR just fine.

Native means direct oculus sdk support not via SteamVR which is more Generic so to speak.

As Marc stated, the rF2 uses Vive's software or steam, but the Rift does not support the standalone Rift software, only the SteamVr version. Users think the Hive performs better than the Rift since it's not having to use Steam to unwrap Hive's VR code. The Rift owners are hoping that something similar can be done for the Rift so that they get a performance bonus similar to what Hive owners enjoy.
