Oddly, I find the Ferrari really easy to drive, but the Brabham and the Benetton just don't want to steer (in slow corners, ie. hairpins). Is it just me ?

Another thing, I lapped on the old Paul Ricard track, and of course metal-footed that I am, I tried to go flat out in the Signes bend, of course I hit the gravel... It took me about 5 minutes to get out. Kept spinning in the wrong direction with the gravel. Is this normal ? I had to bump into 4th gear to not make the wheels spin too much to get out lol.

Proper hairy chest drivers back then, with big balls.
Did they use clutch to shift back then,or was it blip shifting.
I’ve been blip shifting up and down even though you don’t need to use the clutch at all to shift.

Come on s397,give us proper transmission models pleeeeeeeeez

Almost sure they all heel-toed back down the gears.
Upshifts were more like speed-shifting (without releasing the accelerator while going up the box). This of course was rarely done in the race as it massacred the box and the engine, so more in qualifying.
The drivers didn't care much back then as they had specific engines, turbos, gearboxes and tyres for qualifying, then long lasting elements to last the race distance.

Jackie Stewart made a thorough analysis of what each thing did in this particular Beatrice cockpit, might be of help:

Hi,not easy with these turbos, you miss you,you loose the power...
I need more training and setup but these car is addictive.
A little clin d'oeil to a driver I liked good when I was young,it was this first victory in f1
