You know when you’re sliding across the infield and find a "glue pot" because there’s an error in the track data? https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1477232582375649
I think it was in Mid Ohio an IndyCar driver went to the grass and the car had a jump that forced him to miss a race or 2 with back pain
I think Joey Hand would have preferred finding a glue pot instead of, or after, being launched from the springboard catapult.
Yes, on exit of turn 1, there's a jump behind the kerb. I couldn't find a video, but it happened to the late Justin Wilson, I think it was him who missed races. But I think it happened to Will Power when fighting for the championship, but still raced. Quite a few IndyCar drivers suffered from that corner actually. If it was me, I'd rather roll. The sudden stop can't be nice, while the energy is dissipated multiple times when you roll.
I sure as hell wasn't expecting the car to roll, flip and pirouette as much as it did and travel so far. From the video you can't judge the car's speed because of the camera angle and the video being slowed down for effect. He was obviously going fast seeing as he travelled so far. At that speed I think your right jpalesi, rag doll wins over crash test dummy.
Yeah the problem with Just Wilson if I remember right was in part due to him being tall so part of the stuff bellow the seat had to be removed for him to fit in cockpit, that made this kind of incident worse for him
I saw that happen live...well on the TV live. That he has continued to become a major driver is a testament to his....well.... his...
Next time you think "this sim grass is like driving on ice!" just watch 43 trying to retake the track.
