V10 era sounded good, the actual racing was as boring as today. Anyone who refers to it as the golden era must have been watching a different era to everone else XD

I know HJK Modding was working on 2005, but he has yet to release anything. That'd be the one I'd like to see the most, given you weren't allowed to change tyres so if you wreck them, that's it. Adds a whole new dynamic to racing.

There were gold nuggets... Absolute thrillers in the early 00's... Yes Ferrari were dominant in most cases but if the season of 2003 doesn't move you I don't know what could in the V10-era... Or any era :) Multiple Montoya - Schumacher nuggets, I tell you.

2003 was ruined by Ferrari running to the FIA about the Michelins when they finally caught up (they'd been fine and legal up til that point and suddenly banned... Funny that) and Montoya getting a penalty for getting rammed by Rubens at Indy.

Always found cars of that era fun to drive though. The days of GP4 and so on. Do hope someone makes a 2005 mod. That was the sweet spot I think.

@LokiD I love the F1 1992 Mod that they made, mostly because you can drive the Andrea Moda's xD

I think they're good enough. The back end teams handle like aircraft carriers and the top teams are joys.

That's exactly what I liked back in the day, especialy late 90's and early 2000s. There was alot more to the racing than it is today and despite some boring races and the dominance of Ferrari in the early 2000's. You had more players who were competetive and overall it was alot less artificial. And who says that there aren't boring races today?

Biggest problem for me today is that DRS makes every engagement pretty predictable and due to the tire strategy everything is very limited. Back in the day an overtake took careful planning over several laps and even the strategic part was alot more exciting due to different teams using different fuel loads and tire compounds that weren't dictated. If you look at Suzuka 2000 you have zero overtakes between Hakkinen and Schumacher but it was still a thriller as they were racing each other with fair meassurements. There were so many great races with Hakkinen, Montoya, Coulthard, both Schumachers, Irvine and the early seasons with Kimi. I also feel that more teams had the chance to have a go for the podium places in certain circumstances when today it is more or less Redbull, Ferrari and Mercedes since what feels like an eternity. In the late 90's you had easily 5 teams fighting for the podium wich says alot.

And the cars just sounded and looked great. If you have seen, felt and heard a full field of V10 with 16000 rpm each hammering up Kemel straight through the forest, you will know why racing today isn't as exciting.
