When it's overcast the environment is too dark.
There are moments when it's too difficult to see the rubber on track.
This happens with monitor too, but it seems that with VR is worse.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello everyone!

As Lagg says, it is happening to me as well. As a kind of fix, there is an option in my monitor to help me seeing a little bit better the road.

It's called black stabiliser. But anyway it's a big problem when it's cloudy.

If a screenshot helps I'll post it later today as an example.

    Thanks for the support!

    Thanks jazzmega.
It's a pity that we can't config any parameter with the Oculus to improve a little bit this.

    Hello,

I have the same issue. It seems to be something that happens very often.

It would be great to have the option to config any parameter, as lagg says, in order to improve this.

    Thank you.

Hm, I'll need to check this. Could it do anything with the fact that the Rift has lower brightness than the Vive?
    I have a Vive, so I can't tell.

    Is it brightness or contrast?

No darkness problem here. In fact, I would like to darken or see more rich colors in the sky. Everything else is ok.

Is there any weather mods for rF2?

I notice it more Online (for some reason) than I do offline, but yes I also find it very dark under heavy clouds during the day (obviously). It never got that dark on my monitor but that was before DX11 so can't really compare, but on the S397 servers I have had to put the headlights on and I never had too before.

As with everything you need to compare to Real Life and yes it can get dark enough for headlights in the day, but for me there is something amiss here as it appears too dark (Standard Cloudy weather as is on the Server so it's not a Heavy Storm which would require headlights for example), like a Contrast issue perhaps, as it gets overly dark for my personal liking.

Yes, off course i'm referring during the day and without rain.
My problem at night is that the headlights of my F1 dont work propperly :p

Sky looks a little washed out here. Having said that it looks the same as the real sky I'm looking at right now.

Not sure how real the sky is in Pcars but it's one of the reasons I drive it as much as I do for sure. All those pinks and blues are soothing some how.:)

Its definitely too dark in a lot of situations (cloudy or even at night with headlights its still too dark).
I suppose it could differ between the Vive and the Rift, as they have different brightness values (rift is darker). Might be more optimized for the Vive. Would be nice to be able to adjust brightness/contrast somehow

Can you guys give us some examples, combos, and exact time of day, weather conditions where you think it's too dark. Thanks!

OK. I'm going to try to replicate the conditions, and post here.
    Thanks

S397 Server at Nola & Silverstone in the Radical, whatever the Weather Settings you had there was when I found it "too dark" when the clouds rolled in. Can't say I've noticed it offline that much but then I may not of been running with Clouds so will double check when I get the time.

    @Christopher Elliott
Overcast, 2pm Silverstone National it appears too dark in the Rift CV1. When removing my HMD I noticed it was much brighter on the Screen using the VR Mirror. In the Rift it is darker by quite some way and I have tried to replicate it with the pictures below.

I think this is more of a Rift specific issue so maybe there's another way of changing it perhaps..

Top is Dark with contrast adjustment and Bottom is the actual Screenshot from the Monitor, it doesn't look like that much in the pictures but it is in the Rift.

these screenshots don't show any problem unless i turn the brightness down on my ipad

rift user here , never noticed a problem + an overcast sky can get pretty dark depending on cloud density

I think it might really be rift related since it has a lower brightness compared to the vive, so anyone talking about this problem please specify which headset you are using.
I definitely have the problem when it is cloudy/overcast or even at night meaning the headlights are not bright enough. Another thing is I think the colors become too muddy when in shadows. Just did a comparison with project cars and its just worlds apart. rFactor 2 in Vr really has a long way to go.

Really! I would have said the same thing the other way around far as muddy shadows at night.

I would say they both have a long way to go from what I see here but that only makes me curious about how you have pcars setup?

Colors in general are better in pcars but the muddy shadows for me.
Headlights in rF2 are not bright enough but after driving in Dirt Rally I didn't want to complain. I drive with them off sometimes in Dirt Rally. I suppose either way is annoying.
