I can get the rest to work, but it only resets my X,Y,Z location, it doesn't change the default look vector.

Granted the Y and Z are controlled by your head (up down, rotate left right), but the turn your head part should also reset, I am stuck looking out the driver side window by like 40 degress and can't get back.

Have you run the SteamVR Room Setup (choose Standing)?

I recommend to recalibrate room scaling, especially the seat positon. I had same problems and solved it by that

I play more than just rFactor and I want the forward position where it is for roomscale stuff. I've run the config, it's all properly setup, but it just won't let me rotate, the in steam recenter doesn't work.

This is a serious bug and needs to be fixed for VR to be taken seriously.

Have you tried re-installing SteamVR? Because if it's not working there then it's an issue with SteamVR not RF2, so when you say "in steam recenter doesn't work" what do you mean exactly? Roomscale is not centered?

    Room scale works just fine.

You dont' recenter room-scale. You only recenter for VR experinces. my computer is in the corner of the room, so my wheel is pointed diagonal to the roomspace.

As I mentioned in the first post, location is fixed, but rotation is not. The headset handles Z and X rotation, but rotation about the Y axis needs to be reset and it's not.

Every other VR Sim gets this right. It's a bug and needs to be fixed. Because your wheel lines up with your VR room, you might not have this issue, but it's real and it needs to be fixed.

Ahh I understand now, if I get time tomorrow I'll try and reproduce to confirm the bug :)

Rift or Vive? I've got a Rift so pointless me trying if it's a Vive issue only.

Same issue on the Vive as well.
Recenter only moves the head laterally, not into the direction the headset is facing.

Today you need to set up roomscale to face exactly in the same direction (to the degree!) as your wheel, which is horribly wrong.

I'm unable to test this as when I go through the "Room-Scale" setup it won't go past the Controllers/Headset bit as I don't have controllers. Sorry guys.

I am also experiencing this issue with a Vive. The front of my play space is the western wall of my room. My desk and racing faces north east. When Rfactor2 launches into the headset with the menu, it's oriented to the west.
I have my doubts it's a steamVR bug as Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, Dirt Rally, RaceRoom Experience, EuroTruckSim2/American Truck Sim, all orient themselves to the direction/position the headset is at when they launch.

You can make it work if you have OpenVR AdvancedSettings installed by using Rotate Play Space. Simpler than rerunning room setup before and after playing. Hopefully they will correct this soon.

It's an rFactor bug, nothing to do with SteamVR. Recenter ignores the directional component.
It should be very easy to fix.

You don't need a roomscale setup, it's broken even for standing. Just setup your standing direction a different direction than your wheel. rFactor doesn't reset the Y rotation vector. Every other VR racer does.
