I'm enjoying using the DX11 version of rFactor 2 - Thanks for all your hard work Monte Carlo 1966 2.1 The shadow draw distance is very low. Most of the shadows only appear about 100 metres in front of the car. They are very noticeable (a moving diagonal line) on buildings on the start straight and up the first hill. The tree shadows seem to be drawn at a greater distance. This happens at all shadow settings - except off, and at various start times. I've tried changing lots of other settings and completely deleted my GTX 970 driver and installed the latest version. I've deleted the contents of the CBash and Shaders folders. Sardian Heights - another street circuit also shows the problem - lots of buildings near the track. The Monte Carlo tracks looks great, but the shadow problem kills the immersion. Is there an rF2/NVidia/ setting that can solve the problem? Thanks for your help.
Brianza's pretty bad too. DX11 is looking great so far but the shadows, for me at least, haven't changed at all.
Thanks for the quick reply. Yes - disappointing. I was hoping it was just a problem with my system/setup. DX11 - a beta - so I hope it will be cured.
No other setting apart from using "Max" shadows in graphics settings, shadow detail affects both shadow resolution and draw distance. Sadly it's a bit heavy on FPS. How far shadows draw is also a bit track dependent, the modder has some level of control on this.
Thanks for your reply. It would be excellent if we had control of the draw distance with an option in settings, or by editing a track or car camera file.
Are object and shadow draw distances affected by GPU power? For example - are the distances increased when using a 1080 Ti?
