The floodgates have opened and iRacing have been added to the list of Sims getting the Porsche Licenses after AC (I *believe* pCars is the other).

Would you welcome Porsche in RF2?

Personally I'm not really that fussed, I'm enjoying them in AC just fine so that's enough for me. But as nice as it is to have the same cars in various Sims I'd prefer more variety like what Reiza are doing with AMS, yes they have some same cars as other Sims of course but it's nice to see a Dev taking things a bit differently like they are doing.

Of course I'd never say never if S397 brought them to us, a full series of course though :)

Interesting, i wonder what made Porsche to finally realize that being arses has no point. But i do expect it to be very expensive, same way as with any premium brand like the black horse, black bull or even the little red upside down Nike-like logo. And in my opinion, they dont really have THAT many sim-RACING interesting cars for me.. Nissan, Renault and many more seemingly less premium brands have many very interesting racers
-AC seems to be focusing on street cars more than on race cars, but in my opinion, unless its a very track oriented street car, street cars dont really translate into sims very well.. They are just too floaty and soft, even cars like R8, 488 etc. GT3 is where it starts to be interesting for me. And if the handling of AC can be atleast little bit believed, the street versions of these supercars have all the same quirks that go back down to being street compatible.. like quite a lot of lift off oversteer.
That said i have already confirmed that when you put ACs physics into a thorough educated test, they fail in many many cases, so i take the handling of their cars with a .. fistfull of salt. (Plus knowing how insandly complex the real life features on these cars are so there is no way on earth AC is simulating those realistically (like magnetic dampers, electronic differentials, FRIC, and so on and so on)
That said their MX-5 ND is believable, its definetly not 100% same but its good enough to train on somewhat
(Forgive me for diverting into AC physics topic, i wanted to make that point to express my opinion on why street cars are not that great in sims - but i do know that many here love porsche racers, i am just not one of them)

I see, forgive me for my lack of knowledge on that
The Arses are going to EA than (But i ve considered EA huge d**s for a long time now so arses dont really add much)

By "different" would be nice if S397 licensed series like the Supercar Challenge and the GT300 so you get the usual GT3 and also the ones like the Volvo (yes I know it's a Chevy under the hood) and the Prius (eeeewwww), GT86 and Lotus (mother chassis cars). There is also the Super Taikyu they got GT3 cars and many others

919 Hybrid developed with real data and the need to (finally!) add support for ERS systems in rF2? Yeah, I'll have a bit of that, please! Why not throw in an RS Spyder while we're at it?

Only judging by the videos i ve seem on youtube about the AC 919 made me think that car is definetly not interesting for me. Seems like these push to powaaah buttons will not be my thing. Especially when delivered to the front wheels, thats just terrible. So i kinda stopped craving the ERS feature in rF2. Altho since endu racing is by far the biggest thing in rF2 and also rf2 is by far the best sim for it, i would find it logical for S397 to focus their development in that direction a lot but i dont think S397 said anything about it did they?

Hmm. Imo good street cars are lots of fun in sims. What's nice with the race cars are the perfofmance and g-forces in corners, but we don't get to feel that in sims. The good side of street cars then is the playfulness and less of a knife edge behaviour when driving on and over the limit of tyre grip. And this car control side of things we do get to enjoy in sim use. So i do think that the street cars are important for any driving sim. Also i think porsche has lots of good street cars.

Official Porsche vehicles would be nice. Porsche (Volkswagen) should give all of their vehicles to S397. It is not like they are giving away real cars and losing money. Car companies have sold "nothing" for large sums for too long. That "nothing" being permission to use their name on a model of a thing that does not exist in real life. Going by this logic, someone should buy one of my purebred virtual puppies. They are rare and all of them are one of a kind and have my name on their collar. You are not allowed to breed them. See how silly that sounds? I'm going to go to the Porsche place this week just to ask them how much to test drive their car anytime I want. When they say it is free, I am going to explain this situation to them and observe their reaction. Now as I verbally drift the corner back onto the topic, any Porsche is going to be fun in rF2 and a welcome addition to the garage that hopefully want licensed.

Love to have the Porsche Cayman GT4 series. It drives so nice in AC, can only imagine what it would be like with rF2 physics.

I disagree. Road cars are the best kind of cars in sim racing. By road car I mean something that has been designed to be driven on track but is still a road car (ferrari f40, ariel atom, corvette, ferrari 458, mclaren supercars etc...). Something like bone stock corolla/mustang/audi a4 or 60s roadcar is just really boring (60s race cars are great though) because it was never meant to do a single lap on race track. But once the chassis gets little love so the car can drive on a race track it is always fun imho. There is lots of body movement, tire flex and the tires allow more slip angle and yawing thorough the corners. The cars are better to feel what they are doing and more rewarding to drive but not easier as more of the corners are not easily flatout and the cars have enough power to spin the tires at higher speeds which the gt cars for example can't do.

Something like a stone hard gt3 with tons of aero and sticky grip slicks is kinda boring in sim because you don't feel the g-forces which in real life is the main attraction for them. Also the error margins are really small (not just because speeds are higher but everything in the car is more peaky and happens quicker. The racing is not as close either) and often times when you feel a slide coming you are already a bit late to correct it. With road cars they tolerate little yaw angle really well and depending what kind of car they are the differences in different parts of the corners can be massive. Whereas with gt cars the differences are more nuanced.

But with road and track cars something like a rear engine porsche will be a joy to drive into a corner. It rotates so nicely. But overdo it and that nice rotation turns into tankslapper really quickly. Mid engined cars are more nimble through the corners but more aggressive and agile. Need a firm but smooth inputs to get the most out of them. Front engined cars are the easiest to handle but not as agile as mid engine cars and not as enjoyable to drive as rear engine cars at their best.

My favourite kind of cars are definitely the supercars (f40, mclaren 675, corvette zr1, nissan gtr, porsche 911 gt3) and trackday cars like caterham r500, r620, ariel atoms. Common to all these is the low downforce figures, relatively grippy road tires (not slicks), big power and very good chassis. The handling is just supreme at the limit. Best parts of gt racing and best parts of road cars.

It would be really nice to some cars to go ahead the corvettes in rf2. A 911 gt3 or turbo would be just great. Even though the corvette has really poor sounds in rf2 the car is fun to drive. All that being said I can understand that for some people it is all about racing cars. Personally I'm happy if we get both. Probably the best thing is to have more race cars but at the same some well chosen road cars would be a great addon as well. And no matter what race car you choose a 911 or f40 will always bring in more people than yet another gt3 or lemans prototype.

I enjoy the peakyness and unforgivness, there is a certain charm in floaty, but defo not in flexy. And in AC everything has absurd amout of liff off oversteer and is very trail braking unfriendly unless you sit into a racer. I like to trail brake, i like it on top of a very sharp peak

Hmm if you repeat something a lot, it becomes a fact.
Porsche and Ferrari and Lotus and whatever, asking percentages from people that in reality do free advertising for them simply goes beyond me.

Nobody in sim world or scale world or image world is making copies of their products, they just do implements, impressions, of what they think Porsche, Ferrari, Lotus or whatever is or stands for.

Wake up people, this form of copyrighting is a scam and a way for these people to do easy money (like they dont have enough anyway).

Law protects them as they are some God or something but they aint.

They are just companies but I guess companies nowdays are more importand than everything, material or not.

The strangest thing for me is individuals backing them, as if they profit of it lol.

It's also a way for the car manufacturers to dictate how the content is represented in the game. According to Pretendracecars, Ferrari didn't allow their F1 car to be raced against other different cars in Assetto Corsa Red Pack, and Ferrari also demanded that their car would produce equal or faster lap times than a McLaren on the same track. Manufacturers also typically request the visual damage to be minimal on their cars.

There was an interesting thread on the Kunos forums where two of the devs show PRC up for what it is. You really have to question where a small pathetic blogger is getting any credible Ferrari source of information from (clue...its from thin air!)

Edit: for those with a bit of free time here's the thread, posts over a few pages, very interesting to get a devs viewpoint on it

Well this is quite known thing, i believe there is truth to it. There have even been movies where the car makers did not allow their cars crashed

And given how "up their butts" where they for the "holy trinity" and especially Ferrari who was threatening their LaFerrari owners that will never sell them another car if they borrow their LaFerrari for it, i absolutely believe that there would be truth to it.
Ferrari can be quite.. ignorant and arogant bunch of ****
