Hi, I've recently bought RF2 and would like to know how I could join an 'online' race. I've searched high & low for some documentation, but I've been uanble to find anything. Can someone tell me where I should look ? PS : I have no previous experience of other SIM's/Gaming apps. I bought RF2 essentially so that I could learn the UK circuits. Thanks.
..Assuming your using Steam..open Steam, highlight rFactor2 in your library and click Play, once the rFactor2 Launcher opens click on the Double Helmets Icon, select a server and join. The Single Helmet Icon is Single Player..
Thanks for the reply. I'm not using Steam, but the process I used is the one you described. I now suspect the problem that I encountered is due to my antivirus blocking the download. It would be nice if there were some documentation though! (I simply can't believe that there's none)
Yes, this game is rough on new users..I suggest browsing the Vehicle and Location sections and manually downloading the Mods/Tracks you're interested in, also visit ISI's downloads for more downloads, eventually you will find a server running content you have installed..good luck
Hi, the error message was something similar to "can't install mod" - as I said, I think it's now solved as I disabled my antivirus and now it's working. When you say "join" do you mean click on "race", as I don't have any button that's labelled 'join'. Is it free to 'join' a multiplayer race ? Thanks.
Studio 397 will not update the non steam versions. To enjoy rF2 online and the new features. You'll need to transfer your rF2 account to steam. Be aware: if you bought the offline mode with 1 year online suscription. You'll lose the online suscription!!! To transfer your remaining online access send a message to @Marcel Offermans, @Christopher Elliott or @Tim Wheatley . (Is there a new email adress for this?) Ofcourse you'll need to install Steam and create a Steam account. Once you have all this covered you can transfer your rF2 account to your steam account. https://commerce.rfactor.net/steam-transfer-form Once you have your steam key. (Since you are a new user). Unistall rF2 and delete the userdata folder. Go the steam, and enter the steam key. rF2 and the default content will start to download (+/-10Gb) At first launche all content will start install.
OK, I've created a new Steam account, and submitted the request to transfer my rF2 to Steam, but no email from rF2 has arrived?
be patient Sirclip, sometimes it may take up to 24hrs to get a reply. once you have the game and presuming you have paid for online (lifetime is the best option in the long run) you can join free of charge any server
Thanks for your reply bwana. I did in fact pay for the lifetime subscription. I really like the idea of playing against other people - hopefully I can find a race for novices! I was blown-away with the 'physics' (particularly FFB) of the sim/game. I can see how one could get very involved with playing RF2 - I'm already thinking that my modest setup may need an upgrade, specifically my old Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP .
