ISI is using Steam matchmaker inside rF2, so server list can't work with Steam offline.

You can use a +connect shortcut in offline mode:

    Instructions:

Go into your Steam install and make a desktop shortcut of Launch rFactor.exe - path is C:\....\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Launcher\Launch rFactor.exe.

Then right click the shortcut and in target field put the following on the end of the file path

    +connect xxx.xx.xx.xx:xxxxx +password [yourpassword]

    Full example:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Launcher\Launch rFactor.exe" +connect 000.00.00.00:00000 +password mYpAsssWorD

The number in bold is your server's IP number and the port number comes after ":" The port number is the http port your server uses, the default is from your multiplayer.json

    Default is:

    "HTTP Server Port":64297,

All you should need to do is have Steam client running and double click the shortcut and you should be able to connect.

NOTE: We don't really recommend using Steam's "offline mode" unless you are really offline. If you're really only doing this to stay on 1084 then I would just opt-in and choose 1084 in the dropdown.

Some members of our league, who are not under lifetime license, have asked about what happens with their license if they move to steam. Considering the ambiguity of the sentence, we have not been able to give them a proper answer.

In some threads it is said that after moving to steam you lose whatever was left from the non steam yearly subscription. This will for sure make some people wait until their subscriptions end before moving to steam.

On the other hand you are "animating" (for saying it nicely) people to move to steam by fixing a deadline to non steam version development.

I would have expected that a serious company would have been more clear in all this. Furthermore, I understand that any solution different from restoring in steam whatever time was left in their non steam license would be an abuse.

I hope this aspect gets properly explained so that we can give a non ambiguous answer to the members of our league. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for not reading all the replies what has been posted on this topic.

But two questions relating steam rF2..
    1) Is there easiest way to get rid of those steam workshop content?
I know that I have to "Unsubscribe" all the content but does it effect future contents aswell?

    2) Does our stand alone server need steam to run multiply rFactor2 dedicated servers?

    Have a nice day.

Yes, thanks. This is my purpose.
The Steam client is asking for a "Beta code".
Where can i find this code to mantain the build 1084?

You shouldn't need a code to select a previous Build, just pick the Build number you want from the drop down.

Thanks for the quick reply Christopher.
    Just a couple more clarifications:

Should I understand that they should transfer their account to steam prior to contacting ISI at the provided email?

If so, should we expect the transfer to be done in a short time or is it something that will take some days? I understand that in the mean time these people would not be able to join servers until their remaining online license is restored.

They should email that address before using the transfer form.

    Yes

But with the next build I guess that's irrelevant...

    2) Nope, I tested and you can start rF2 launcher without Steam running. Obviously you can't start the main game without Steam, but you can start a dedi instance from launcher.

Tried to find the answer to this but haven't come across anything so if it's been answered already I apologize for asking.

I'd really like to get rid of the vast majority of the content that downloaded when I converted to Steam. None of the "Series" would be of interest to me and very few of the cars. Can I unsubscribe via Steam, then uninstall and delete through the game?

    Thanks!

Unsubscribing via steam will also uninstall from the launcher.
