I looked at the pics of this car and thought "those are neat scratch marks!"

My question is, why aren't the scratches normal mapped? scratches to the paint to reveal some slightly shinier metal underneath?

    Is this not possible?

There is a primer under the paint, unless you polish it, a scratch will never be shiny :D

Well ok... a scratch should still reflect light different and have a slight raised surface from the primer ;)

Default road setup, all symmetrical, only difference I can see is a 10lbs difference on wheelload both front and rear.

Weird that it only does it under throttle load. Am I the only one experiencing it?
It's only a slight pull to the right but it's there.

If it was when starting from a standstill, it would be easy to point out. What wheel do you have? It is not that uncommon for the wheel to lose its centering every now and then. Make sure it is aligned in the profile page, and then reset its centering in the game itself.

    Just to be sure.

Wheel-less for a couple of weeks, using an Xbox controller.
All other cars are fine, so not a controller issue.
    Thanks though. :)

Ahhhhh, it should be steering sensitivity. Check out the range and maybe decrease it to ~600º and see if it helps.

Not placeholders no, they should be good on a wet track.

ah okay I test them then.

Visual placeholder right ? the wets are the same slicks

Wouldn't they have used cut slicks or wets

I *really* want to like this car. That's not to assume I think ISI got it wrong. Quite the opposite, actually. The car acts exactly as I thought this ctype of car of the era would: Big, torquey, a bit clumsy, and somewhat vague for steering feedback.

I'm accustomed to something that allows a bit of wheelspin. So, the "locker" rear diff and the bias-ply slicks are a bit of a shock to how I need to drive these beasts.

Set to 450 my poor thumbs can't deal with anything higher.
Tried reinstalling the mod but still the same.
Guess I'm the only one experiencing it, oh well.

    Thanks anyway.

It isn't disributed evenly between the wheels.

With a live axle, the torque from the engine is reacted such that the load on the rear tyres is not equal, as illustrated in this SAE paper on the C2 Corvette

    http://web-cars.com/corvette/1963_SAE-paper.php?page=4

The uneven loading means one tyre is less able to transmit the torque to the ground than the other. With an open differential, the torque to both wheels must be equal, so all the uneven loading does is limit the torque at both wheels to that which can be transmitted by the tyre with the lower load. This reduces traction off the line, but there should be little or no effect on steering.

With a limited slip differential or a locked differential, torque is directed to the wheel which can transmit it - and in the case of a live axle - the left wheel will transmit more torque than the right wheel. This uneven torque means the left wheel exerts more force when accelerating than the right wheel. This uneven distribution results in the car steering to the right.

One thing I've never seen before is that the left side of the suspension (.pm file) is different from the right side.
The trackbars heights are different in the .pm file.
And the center bar is offset from the left side to the right side (x position is not zero).
I've never seen this before in any other suspension file.

Then you wouldn't be able to make a skin for it without the scratches...

What great cars. Absolutely in love with them. Let's mount some uglyhead superchargers on them and burn some rubber and nitro. :)
