I like your enthusiasm and its a nice gesture, offering prize money to get this feature implemented. I suspect isi have it in the pipeline possibly as there is...or was an option in the ui for wind and crowd motion.
I know this is a broken record by now but I would much rather see lots of other features before trees blowing !
Rain effects. Sparks. Proper drivetrains. Gearbox damage. Debris pickup on tyres and lollipop man, pitcrew etc etc.
Just looking at how iracing has upped its game in lots of areas and reading automobilistas recent roadmap.. Not to mention the many features already working in the early access sim, that we are STILL left waiting for in rFactor 2. Well the future popularity of my favourite sim worries me.

 

rFactor 2 supports wind long time ago, but it isn't still implemented in the game engine. Look:

 

The video looks stunning, if this really is working tech, then there should be no reason why this can't be supported in the main game.

 

So something else that's there.. But not there in the sim.

So many frustratingly absent and partially implemented features waiting to happen.

 

Waiting for a coder to implement it properly it seems. ISI doesn't do half jobs so there has to be calculated wind in the engine that moves the trees.

Will take a while I'm sure (if it ever happens in rf2)


But maybe I'm just a bit salty because of that f1 qualy format right now....

 

Wow. This moving trees look great. Would be great to have in rf2. Also flying leaves would be great, too.

Problem with the moving billboard trees is it's not just trees that move, but all billboard objects move also. The billboard 2D people would rock left and right also, and just look weird. There are no options to tell rfactor2 what objects you don't want to move (when it comes to billboard).

I remember ISI's very old game F1 Challenge 99-02 had moving cross shaped trees https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlnrhHkqCO0.

 

Haha that sounds hilarious. ISI, implement asap pls.

But seriously, doesn't sound that hard to make the game able to recognize the difference between different billboard objects. Now maybe moving trees are not that important but it would be nice.

 

Incorrect, just move the objects that you want to move, and you can also control the amount of movement (strong-soft) which applies to them. If you look the video carefully, you can see how some trees move more than others, that is not a coincidence.
