While the 2012 Formula ISI might be an older model and chassis, this car is used by a large number of rFactor 2 Grand Prix racing leagues around the world. Something more modern is in the pipeline, but we wanted to bring the 2012 car up-to-date before that (mainly because a lot of people don't like the modern cars).

The vast majority of work went into the physics and tires, there are only minor visual tweaks.

    Thank you !

EDIT: After a quick spin, i'm really impressed about the tyres. While still non-CPM, they feel great, a lot more "rubber-like" than before.

Yes you're right: "- Tyres updated to use CPM, including wet tyre improvements."
I wasn't aware, because the shape of the contact patch look's very much like the older non-cpm tyres. Even with 4deg camber.

    They are CPM.
Reading the notes would prevent writing such things.

Yup, noticeable improvement! This is the first time that I've ever felt in touch driving a recent F1 car in rF or rF2.

    Yep, CPM goodness for sure.

I'm not a fan of the default setup, a bit wallowy for my liking at a Silverstone test.
Stiffening things up and using the fast rate steering allowed the car to really shine though. A long run on the hards was illuminating through the phases, very convincing characteristics applicable in the right scenario's.
10 laps through Copse and I tried leaning a bit more on the front left. It gave way making me run wide and the whole time on preparation, I could just 'feel' it was going to do so.

This is a very deep car and the tuning scope is huge. Each change in setup was immediately and purposefully noticeable, much more so than in previous versions. Not because they were wrong, but it's a much more colourful palette right now.

Thanks so much ISI and happy whatever is it you do around this time of year :D

To me it look's like these tyres are a lot softer (construction-wise), than those of the Indycar. It would explain the totally different shape of contact patch.

Thinking the same. Last version was so dead for me that I basically abandoned it for almost 2 years. This one feels more organic. I was soooo hoping to see new improvements in a open wheeler because almost all OW cars in rF2 felt binar. On/off switch for feel, grip. Just a mystery that had to be learned to drive by heart EXACTLY within very small window that that car allowed. You felt a war prisoner running ahead, turning right, left on command from a soldier behind you pointing a gun at your head with you just waiting for him to pull a trigger every single moment.

Very graphic analogy, true but that's what driving old FISI was and in some way Marussia feels like (given it's yet to be updated). New one gives a lot more confidence, makes me blame myself for most of the slides, spins rather than just sigh, press esc and try again hoping it won't happen again. I still need to fine tune my driving and setup to get most of it but already feels few jumps better rather than steps from the previous one.

Also hearing about NEW formula car that is a bit more modern makes me think that we can get generic 2014/2015 F1 car :D And that means that ERS system might be in development? Maybe I'm a bit ahead of myself but just speculating. Sth that every person likes to do once in a while when some winks are made towards him. :D

I second what Ronnie said. Car just feels connected to the road. Tried just the super soft tyres for now, but great update!

I somehow ended up having v1.47 and v1.6 at the same time using +workshop shortcut on Steam. I had to unsuscribe and start rFactor 2 again. Don't have anything besides the official content.
