Hi Gents, What is the "official" standpoint about changing names within the game ? There are some docs around and also a small nick changer app is out there, but what is the reason why we should not do that ? Tim and other stuff members mentioned earlier that we might have issues in the future. Is this still a valid point nowadays ? What are those "issues" ? Thanks, Misi
Just try it out if you get problems, it's much faster than to wait for an official statement, normally. And for safety reasons just make a backup of every file that you edit.

Depends. If I think you've sold your account - which we do not support - then I'm not going to change the name. Other than that, I don't really care. Yesterday I changed a name for someone that was too many characters long, changed his first name from Edward to Ed purely so he would show his last name properly. So, as I said, just depends what the change is when I do it.
Hi Tim, No, I would never sell my account Why I ask this ? In our league we want to make a rule. Everybody has his real name, that's fine. We would like to ask the guys to change their nick like this: Real name: John Doe Nick: JohnDoe This would mean that everybody should change his nick, since they used an other one. Would this cause any issues in the future ? During the upgrades, during connecting to other servers, etc.. Thanks, Misi

You can change your nick yourself, click on it on the launcher, i don't know how for the steam users.
Lost in translation . Go to your Documents folder, make sure hidden folders are visible. Open AppData > Roaming > .rFactor > rFactor.NAME 1st line is 1st name 2nd line is last name 3rd line is nickname (the one shown ingame)
Why don't you just edit the nickname in the launcher? We only block you from editing the real name, and do that for you based on our criteria. Nickname you can do...

We had a private thread with Tim, let me summarize what I got: If somebody change the real name in the rfactor.name, he/she won't be able to activate the game anymore.
