We've created another video tutorial! This one explains how you can select which dashboards get displayed for your car. With over 70 dashboards, and many, many specialty dashboards, being able to select which ones you want for each car is an important part of the Z1 software.

We have released version 4.6.2 of the Z1 Dashboard software. This fixes a bug we found that would cause the Z1 Dashboard to crash upon launch for certain operating systems, such as Chinese, Russian, Korean, and similar ones. If you are experiencing the crash issue with version 4.6.x then we suggest you upgrade to this version.

If you already own the software you can get this download here: http://z1simwheel.com/dashboard/MyDashboard.cfm.

If you don't own the software then you can download the demo here: http://z1simwheel.com/dashboard/demo.cfm?source=rF2

The Z1 Dashboard software contains over 70 dashboards! They are all ready to go out of the box with no configuration. Of these 15 of them are what we call specialty dashboards. They are not designed with a particular car in mind, but rather help you with race management by displaying information about your car or competitor's cars.

This video explains four of them in detail: the Timing & Scoring dash; the two Adjustment dashes; and the Ahead/Behind dash.

We hope you find this video useful:

Version 4.7.0 of the Z1 Dashboard software is now available! This new version brings a whole host of new features including:

A new strategy tab to help you better anticipate when to make your pit stops. The previous single location 'After Stop' dot has been replaced with a more accurate 'snake' which moves along the track map showing you a range of where you'll come out depending on how fast your stop is.

Support for KERS and DRS in Assetto Corsa; and DRS support in rFactor 2 has been added.

Updates to the Car 3 tab, making it much easier to specify the color of LEDs and when they should be illuminated. In addition you can now specify the left 5 LEDs on the F1 dashes to be used for DRS indications.

And of course, more dashboards. We've got 4 this time. Two for road cars and 2 for oval cars.

If you don't yet own the software you can download the demo here: http://z1simwheel.com/dashboard/demo.cfm?source=rF2

Here is the full list of release notes:
    v 4.7.0
    * Added a new karting dash, called 'Kart Dash 3'.

    * Added a new F1 Dash, called F1 2014 Dash 7.

    * Added two new Stockcar dashes called 'Stockcar Dash 2016 3' and 'Stockcar Dash 2016 4'.

    * Added a Strategy tab to the settings dialog. This contains various options for race strategy.

    * Added a Display Range option to the Strategy tab. When settings this option to Yes (the default) the pit stop delta on the track maps will be displayed as a highlighted section of the track. This provides a more accurate coverage of where you could come out (depending on if you have a fast or slow pit stop.) When set to No the pit stop delta will be displayed as a square on the track maps (as it was in previous versions).

    * Improved the pit stop delta times to provide more accurate pit stop time range for all tracks and cars. Previously it was always 30 seconds. Now it will vary based upon the track and car used.

    * When the After Stop option is enabled (either by the user requesting it through a button press, or it becoming active due to the pit stop being within the specified number of laps) the cars close to you will be tracked. These tracked cars will be highlighted in the track maps. This is useful because they may pit on different laps from you, and even though they may then not be near you on track, you are still racing them. (This is still in beta.)

    * You can specify the color used to highlight tracked cars in the Strategy tab.

    * There is an option to specify whether or not tracked cars should be highlighted on the track map in the Strategy tab.

    * There is now a Show After Stop option in the strategy tab. This lets you choose whether or not the 'After Stop' text is displayed along with the location of the pit stop delta in the track maps. By default this is set to Yes.

    * You can now choose the color of the After Stop text and overlay with the After Stop Color option in the Strategy tab.

    * You can now choose the font size of the After Stop text with the After Stop Size option in the Strategy tab.

    * You can choose the width of the pit stop delta overlay with the Range Width drop down in the Strategy tab.

    * There is a new button assignment that allows you to toggle the pit stop delta display on or off regardless of the number of laps of fuel remaining.

    * If you click the delete icon for the track map (the red X) the application will ask you to confirm this action before deleting the track map.

    * Local yellows are now supported in certain sims (rFactor2 only right now.)

    * Added support for weather in rFactor 2. (Chance of rain, temperature and cloud coverage. Wind speed and direction is not supported at the moment.)

    * You can now specify where the ZOD telemetry files will be created.

    * You can now assign buttons to increase or decrease the intensity of the LEDs on the SMZ1 wheel.

    * The Car 3 tab has been completely redesigned to make it easier to specify the colors of shift light LEDs and the RPM at which each one should illuminate.

    * The Cadillac dashboard now displays the ABS setting and Brake Bias setting when Show Extras is set to Yes in the Car 1 tab.

    * Improved how the iRacing telemetry playback screen determines lap times and laps numbers within the sim.

    * There is now an option to assign a button to place markers in the telemetry files. These markers can then be displayed in the Z1 Analyzer application. (A marker allows a driver to note a location on the track so that location can be highlighted in the Z1 Analyzer.)

    * The Ahead/Behind dash now shows the number of laps since the driver last stopped in the pits (LSS - for Laps Since Stop). If the driver has never stopped then --- is displayed.

    * There is now an option in the Car 3 tab to reserve some of the shift light LEDs for the DRS. Enabling this option uses the left 5 LEDs for DRS indications. This only has an effect when using the F1 dashboards, or the SMZ1 wheel.

    * Added support for DRS in rFactor 2.

    * Added data logging of wheel RPM in rFactor 2 and Project CARS.

    * Displays air and track temperature for Assetto Corsa.

    * Implemented DRS in Assetto Corsa (not this only shows if it is engaged, and not if you are in a DRS zone or not.)

    * Added support for KERS in Assetto Corsa.

    * All dashboards have been updated to be self-centering in the window.

    * If the Z1 LCD Screen or SMZ1 wheel becomes disconnected the Dashboard software will attempt to reconnect to the screen once it is plugged back in, or the connection is re-established, without having to restart the software.

    * When using the Z1 Server, you no longer have to register the Z1 Dashboard on the remote machine. It will self-register based on the Z1 Server being registered.

    * The standings dashboard now has a column called 'LSS' which shows the number of laps each competitor has driven since their last stop. (Not currently only iRacing support this).

    * The Timing & Scoring dashboard now shows the number of stops you have done in your race and the number of laps since your last stop. Only race pit stops are counted. So if you go into the pits during a practice session that doesn't count as a pit stop. (Not that only iRacing supports this at the moment).

    * There is now an option to have no title bar as well as the previous thin title bar. For those who don't want the display maximized but still want no border at all, this is the option to choose.

    * There are four new Open To options. These are top left, top right, bottom left and bottom right. Selecting one of these will position the Z1 in that corner of the screen. This is intended to be used in conjunction with the None title bar option, when running 4 instances of the Dashboard on one monitor.

    Hi russell,

*You can now specify where the ZOD telemetry files will be created.
*Added data logging of wheel RPM in rFactor 2 and Project CARS.

As good as your word, both suggestions taken to heart and now implemented in Z1 dash.
Great to see other features with rf2 in mind implemented also.
I'm going to have to honor mine now and purchase your software in return.

    keep up the good work

The Z1 Dashboard software has 5 different track map dashboards. Each of these track map dashes can be customized in many ways to suite your own style and preferences. So not only are they one of the most useful dashboards for helping you keep track of your competitors, they are also one of the most customizable ones in the Z1 software.

This video goes over the track map options and shows how the effect the track map display.

The Z1 Dashboard track maps not only show you where you are on the track, but they can show you where you will end up after a pit stop. This is done through a highlighted overlay, or snake, on the track map. This overlay shows you were you will end up if you pitted at that moment.

The position is calculated based on the track, the length of the pit lane, its speed limit and the average time it takes to make a stop.

This overlay lets you choose the perfect time to pit to make sure you come out ahead of your rivals, or on a clean section of track.

This can be customized in the Strategy tab of the settings dialog.

Yes. The Z1 Server would run on your sim PC. It broadcasts the sim's data across your network. Then on a different Windows PC (a laptop/tblet, etc) you can connect to the data feed with the Z1 Dashboard and/or Z1 Analyzer. The Dashboard can have up to 6 instances showing at once.

Just want to give a shout out to Russell - I've been using Z1 for years now and have watched it grow. It is by *far* the most useful application I've ever used for sim racing. It is SO much more than just a dashboard and should never be compared to the phone apps like dashmeter pro. We use it for telemetry and status display on multiple extra external monitors outside of the sim setup, as well as remote telemetry monitoring and analysis live during races from a seperate laptop. Z1 is a bargain, hands down

Not to mention Russell is a great guy - whenever I've had an issue he fixed it ASAP. I recently updated my PC build and since the license is tied to your system/motherboard, it no longer recognized my license since it was a new PC. Most developers would have taken this chance to make me buy another license, but Russell updated my existing license and had me up and running again as soon as I emailed him.

The software is $24.99. That includes the Z1 Dashboard, Z1 Server and Z1 Analyzer applications.

We also offer a 4.3" LCD Screen which is $199 for the basic version and $225 for the touch version.

ANd then there is also the SMZ1 wheel which is an F1 style wheel with the scree integrated into the wheel. Full information on that wheel is available here: http://z1simwheel.com/smz1/index.cfm

Version 4.8.0 of the Z1 Dashboard is here! We've got a whole host of new features, including 4 new dashboards!
    1) Two IMSA style dashboards
    2) A new track map dashboard showing the weather details and wind direction on your car
    3) A new lap times dashboard showing live sector times as you progress round the track, highlighting best laps, sectors, in and out laps.

In addition The Z1 Dashboard is now compatible with Automobilista!

You can also now customize car dashboards and settings for any sim or car without having to launch the sim.

    Download the demo today: http://z1simwheel.com/dashboard/demo.cfm?source=rF2

Here is the full list of release notes:
    * The Z1 Dashboard software is now compatible with Automobilista. You will need to put the Z1Automobilista.dll plugin located in the documents/z1dashboard/plugs/automobilista folder into your Automobilista plugin directory.

    * Added a new Track Map Dash (#6). This displays the weather information on the right with an arrow showing the wind direction relative to your car position.

    * Added a new Lap Times dashboard. This shows all your lap times and the sector times for each lap. The fastest lap and fast sector times are highlighted for easy identification.

    * Added two new IMSA style dashboards.

    * There is a new setting in the Car 1 tab called Limiter Mode. If you have specified a pit limiter dash this determines when that dash is displayed. There are four options. Limiter Static is the default option and retains the previous behavior of displaying the pit limiter dash when the pit limiter is engaged. Limiter Change also displays the pit limiter dash when the pit limiter is engaged, but it allows you to change to a different dash at any point. Pit Lane Static displays the pit limiter dash when you are on pit lane. This is intended for cars that do not have pit limiters or for sims that do not report the pit limiter being engaged. Finally there is Pit Limiter Change. This displays the pit limiter dash when you enter pit lane. It then allows you to change to a different dash at any point.

    * You can now specify the settings and dashboards used for a car without having to have that car or sim loaded. To do so, open the settings dialog and go to the Car 1 tab. There is now a drop down for the sim and one for the car. Choose the sim and car you want to edit from these drop downs. If you have a car and sim currently loaded then that sim and car combination will be displayed by default.

    * The average fuel consumption is now shown based on the criteria specified in the settings dialog (ie using all laps, using only the last X laps, or using a specific amount of fuel every lap.) Previously the selected fuel consumption criteria only effected the amount of fuel required to finish the race. Now the average fuel displayed in the various dashboards, as well as in the 'average stint fuel' of the general statistics screen will reflect the selected choice as well. Note that the fuel consumption over then entire session as displayed in the general statistics screen will still be the average fuel used over all laps.

    * Updated the Tire Dash to better show information.

    * Incorporated new API data from Assetto Corsa version 1.7.

    * Updated integration with Assetto Corsa for better sector time management.

    * There is now an option to specify the monitor the Dashboard should open onto. This is only valid when selecting the Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left or Bottom Right open locations. If you choose the default monitor then the Z1 will display the window on the monitor it thinks you were last using. If you select a specific monitor then the Dashboard will attempt to open on that monitor regardless of where it was last positioned.

    * Updated the Average Lap Time options and Fuel Per Lap option (in the Car 1 tab) to make it easier to understand.

    * The track maps now have an arrow drawn at the start/finish line to indicate the direction of travel of the track. (Note this only gets displayed when using the 'Vector' render option.)

    * There is now a checkbox in the Car 3 tab called 'Assign to all screens'. If you click on this checkbox the current LED RPM set up will be copied to all screens associated with the current car. This allows you to easily copy a specific LED RPM settings to all dashboards used by a car.

    * There is now a setting in the Buttons 1 tab called Message Size. This lets you set the font size used to render the popup messages that appear on the dashboard for items like adding fuel, changing deltas, etc. The default size is 10.

    * There is not a settings in the Display tab called List Font Size. This is the font sized used the render any list in the software, such as lap times, driver lists, etc.

    * The garage screens have been updated to make better used of vertical space when the window is in a portrait orientation.

    * The standings garage screen and standings dashboard now show the average iRating (only when in iRacing). Note this is the average iRating and not the actual strength of field. However it is close.

    * The lap times garage screen has been redesigned. It now shows all sector times and highlights the fastest ones, making it easier to analyze which laps contained your fastest sectors. In addition in and out laps are now included and highlighted in orange. An out lap will have a border at the top of the row, while an in lap will have a border at the bottom of the row.

    * When running in iRacing the track temperature display has been updated to include both the average track temperature and the immediate temperature at the start/finish line.

    * The Weather dashboard has been updated to include the N,S,E,W indicators when displaying a track map.

    * Updates to Project Cars for better weather information; sector times and track map creation.

    * Updates to Rfactor 2 integration for better sector times.

    * Updates the data logging to allow for more accurate lap times in the files.

This is one of the new dashboards for version 4.8 of the Z1 Dashboard software. It is based around dashboards used in the IMSA series circa 1990. With a huge tach in the center is shows you all that really matters for the cars of that time, along with some secondary information. Enjoy!

Is there any Android Z1 dashboard software?

I bought Z1 but I don't see how I can use the dashboard while I'm driving on the same computer.
I assumed there would be an Android dashboard client. These days it's quite obvious...
