I just want to say that this is a great add on for rfactor. I bought it a month ago and now i just can't drive without it. I run it on a very cheap (€50) 7 inch win 10 tablet from Trekstor which i bought for this purpose.

Thank you for the kind words! Very glad you like the software! With each new release we keep adding new features and content. It is about this time, with a month to go to the next release, that I really can't wait to get it released because of all the new features it will have. :)

You probably know that the best way to utilize your laptop or Windows tablet to display your Z1 Dashboard is to run the Z1 Server on your sim PC.

But then how do you get the Z1 Dashboard to recognize button clicks from your device which is plugged into the sim PC and not the laptop or tablet? The answer is simple - just define those button clicks in the Z1 Server and it will send them on to the Z1 Dashboard!

The Joystick tab of the settings dialog on the Server allows you to set up all the buttons that the Dashboard would recognize,. So you can switch dashboard or adjust settings as you would if you were running the Dashboard on the sim PC!

Just another way the Z1 Server and Dashboard help you get the most from your sim racing set up!

The Z1 Dashboard software allows you many ways to specify how the LEDs in each dashboard are illuminated. You can choose the manual option where you get to enter an RPM level for every LED. That gives you complete control over how they illuminate. But it is a lot of work.

There are also faster options, which are on by default, where you can specify a percentage range of the car's maximum RPM. Then the Z1 sets up the correct values, allowing you to race and not worry about the exact values.

The automatic options consist of four choices: All 80-98 (where each LED comes on one at a time starting at 80% of redline, with all of them on at 98% of redline); All 65-98 (where each LED comes on one at a time starting at 65% of redline, with all of them on at 98% of redline); Grouped 80-98 (where the LEDs come on in groups starting at 80% of redline, with all on at 98% or redline); and Grouped 65-98 (where the LEDs come on in groups starting at 65% of redline, with all on at 98% of redline).

These options can be set on a car by car basis in the Car 3 tab of the settings dialog. You can also specify the LED behavior for any newly defined cars using the drop down in the Display tab.

The new version (4.6) is now available! This comes with 9 new dashboards! In addition it now supports any aspect ratio, allowing for the 1280x440 style NASCAR dashboards.

Any in car changes that are made, such as brake bias, traction control, etc, are displayed full screen for a few seconds allowing you to easily see the change.

You can now assign a button to jump directly to a specific dashboard. The way in which buttons are check for has been improved adding more settings for delays between button checks and presses. Support for multiple similar devices has been improved for those who have more than one button box.

Here are some of the new dashboards:
    The Corvette DP dash:

    A new formula dash:

    A new GT3 dash:

    Another new GT3 dash:

    New 2016 NASCAR style dashboards:

    The new Ahead/Behind dash:

Here are the full release notes:
    * The installer is now digitally signed to make the installation process faster and easier.

    * Adjusted internal architecture to allow for variable aspect ratios for the dashboards. This will allow for dashboards such as the new NASCAR style rectangular layout.

    * There are now two new dashboards in the style of the digital NASCAR dashboard of 2016.

    * There is a new dash called 'Ahead Behind Dash'. This shows the car ahead of you on track and behind you on track. The display includes the driver's name, car type and position. If you are running iRacing then it also shows the iRating and Safety Rating of the driver. Note the dash shows the car ahead/behind you on the track. This may not necessarily be the one ahead/behind you in position.

    * Added a new Adjustment Dash (#2). This display the current values for settings such as MGU-K parameters, peak brake bias, and more.

    * Added a new dashboard for the Corvette C7 DP.

    * Added a new GT3 dashboard for the Audi R8.

    * Added a new GT3 dashboard for the Mercedes.

    * Added a new formula dashboard for the Renault 2.0 formula car.

    * Added the Weather dashboard. This shows the current weather conditions for the event. Note not all sims support all aspects of this dashboard.

    * Wind direction and speed is now displayed on the track maps. You can specify where the information is displayed in the Track Map tab of the settings dialog. THe options are center (the default), top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right, or off. Note not all sims support this feature.

    * Any in-car adjustments that are made now trigger a special display screen. This screen is displayed for a few seconds alerting you to the change and the new value of the adjusted item.

    * There are settings in the Display tab that allow you to customize the font, font size and colors used in the in-car adjustment display, as well as the length of time the change is displayed.

    * Improvements to rendering for LEDs on various dashboards that allow for faster resizing of the windows.

    * After installing this version any subsequent updates will no longer overwrite existing preferences. (For this install you should still make a backup of your settings files if you want to keep pre-existing settings.)

    * Added 'after pit stop' location square to Track Map 4.

    * You can now change the background color of the standings dashboard by settings the background color in the Car 2 tab. Previously it was always white.

    * The standings dashboard now shows the time remaining in the session, along with your current position and laps completed/to go at the top of the dash.

    * You can now specify the amount of extra fuel added during your pit stops in addition to what the Z1 calculates you will need to finish the race. The default value is 3 liters. You can change this value, on a car by car basis, in the Car 1 tab of the settings dialog.

    * The additional fuel buffer that you can specify (see above note) is now also added to the displays of how much fuel is needed to finish a race. Previously it was only sent to the iRacing API when you requested the fuel to be automatically added.

    * The Joystick tab has been renamed to Buttons, as that is now more appropriate.

    * The Pause Time option has been moved from the General tab to the Buttons tab.

    * The button pause time has now been split into two options, both available in the Button 1 tab. Pause After is the number of milliseconds the app will pause checking for buttons after you press a button. The default is 250 milliseconds. Pause Between is the number of milliseconds the app will pause between loop of checking for buttons. The default is 16 milliseconds.

    * Improved the recognition of buttons to help differentiate between buttons when the user has multiple instances of the same device (such as button boxes).

    * All iRacing specific buttons have been moved to the Buttons 2 tab.

    * Added button options for clearing all tyres and selecting a fast repair in iRacing.

    * Added the ability for the user to define buttons to go directly to a specific dashboard screen with the dashboard rotation. These can be defined in the new Button 2 tab of the settings dialog.

    * You can now specify the vertical position where messages are displayed on the dashboard. These messages are displayed in response to button inputs, such as delta switches, fuel adjustments, etc. This adjustment is located in the Buttons 1 tab.

    * There is now an option op have the Dashboard open to the exact size it was when you last closed it. This will allow for different aspect ratios to be displayed easily each time you open the Dashboard. Previously it would always revert to a 480x272 aspect ration when opened. This behavior can be set in the Display tab with the 'Open To' option. The 'Resolution' option is the new style. The 'Scale' option is the old style.

    * There is now an option to have the Dashboard open as a maximized window. This option is available under the 'Open To' combobox in the Display tab.

    * A new option called 'Calculate Laps' is now available in the Car 1 tab. This effects how the numbers of laps remaining in a timed race are calculated. The default option is to use the leader's lap times. But you can also choose to use your lap times (this is how it used to be in previous versions). You would want to use your lap times if you are in a multiclass race and you are not in the fastest class. In most other situations using the leader's lap times would be the best option.

    * Added support for reading yellow and blue flags in Assetto Corsa.

    * Added an option for different ways in which the Z1 will determine that Assetto Corsa has exited. This is available in the Network tab. You should only try Options 1 or 2 if the Default option is not working properly for you.

    * There is a new setting on the General tab called 'LED Brightness'. This allows you to adjust the brightness of the LEDs on the new Sam Maxwell Z1 wheel.

    * Added a Car 4 tab to the settings dialog. This is where you can setup how the LEDs in the SMC wheel behave.

    * The pit info dash message and text color will now be set regardless of the currently selected screen in the Car 2 tab.

    * There is now an option in the Car 1 tab of the settings dialog that lets you choose if you want a 'P' to be displayed when on the pit limiter, or if you want the actual gear number to be displayed. This only affects dashboards that display gear numbers.

    * You can now specify the car's redline in the Car 1 tab.

    * There is an Auto Redline option in the Car 1 tab. When set to Yes (the default) the Z1 will use data provided by the sim to determine the car's redline. If you want to specify the car's redline yourself (due to incorrect sim information) set this value to No.

    * The Car 1 and Car 2 tabs have been rearranged to make them more logical. Items that effect every screen in the car are now all on car 1 tab. Items that effect only the currently selected screen are on car tab 2.

    * The Z1 Server now sends weather data to the Dashboard.

    * Added a minimize box to the Z1 Server window so it can now be minimized.

We've released version 4.6.1 of the Dashboard and 1.3.1 of the Analyzer. These updates fix some bugs that were discovered in version 4.6.0 of the Dashboard and 1.3.0 of the Analyzer.

    The fixes are:
    In the Z1 Dashboard:
    * Fixed a bug that could cause the display in the LCD screen to appear slanted or distorted.

    * Fixed a bug for iRacing where a hosted or off-line session could report the type of session (practice, race, qualifying, etc) incorrectly. This could result in an incorrect number of laps being displayed as completed.

    In the Z1 Analyzer:
    * Fixed a bug where the ride height analysis screen did not correctly identify the point where the user clicked on the track map.

    * Fixed a bug where the values in the traces were displayed too low on the trace. This resulted in traces with four values (such as tires, etc) having the rear wheel values off screen.

    * Fixed a bug where if there was no wheel speed data the brake lock up analysis screen would say your brake were continuously locked.

    * Fixed a bug in the Lap Overview section where sectors times and turn times where not displayed properly.

    * Updated the decimal places used in the Ride Height analysis screen to be one decimal place for metric units and two for imperial units. This brings it up-to-date with how the units are displayed in the Ride Height trace.

    * Fixed a bug where zod files recorded with version 4.6.x of the Dashboard might not be able to be opened. (You should delete and ZOD files created with version 4.6.0 of the Dashboard or 1.4.0 of the Server.)

In version 4.6 of the Z1 Dashboard there are many functions that you can map to buttons on your wheel, joystick or button box. These include things like changing screens, changing deltas, scrolling, pit options, and more.

With so many options it is easy to run out of buttons on a single device. If you do run out of buttons, and end up using a second device you might find that the Z1 Dashboard doesn't differentiate between the devices.

If you have two identical devices on your computer and are using buttons from both of them you should turn on the Check Device option located in the Buttons 1 tab of the Settings Dialog. This will allow you to use the same button on different devices for different purposes.

The latest version of the Z1 Dashboard has 9 new dashes included with it! There are so many that we decided to feature some of them over the next weeks.

This one is a new formula style dash, perfect for the Formula Renault car. As well as the standard information it includes displays for when the pit limiter is engaged, when you are low on fuel, or if you have a water temperature or oil pressure warning.

Did you know that in version 4.6 of the Dashboard software you can specify the size of the screen when the software opens? If you look in the Display tab there is an option called 'Open To'.

    This has three choices:
    1) Scale - this is what it was in previous versions. It will open to an aspect ratio of 480x272 pixels.
    2) Resolution - this will open to the exact size it was when you closed it. So if you want it to be a specific size window then this is the option to use.
    3) Maximized - the window will open up maximized in the monitor.

Make sure you choose the one that suits your needs best!

The Z1 Dashboard and Z1 Server support many options that can be controlled through button presses. These options are all located in the Buttons 1 and Buttons 2 tabs.

Depending on your device and how you want to use the button inputs the times between recognition of button presses is important. The Z1 software provides two distinct timing options for button inputs.

The first is called 'Pause After'. This is the amount of time, in milliseconds, that the software will stop listening for buttons inputs after a button press has been detected. If you want buttons to repeat quickly, then you should reduce this number. If you find that button presses are causing multiple inputs, then you should increase this number.

The second option is called 'Pause Between'. This determines the amount of time in milliseconds the software will wait between checking for button inputs. If you find that the software is missing your button inputs then you should try reducing this number.

Using these configuration options together allows you to tailor the Z1 software to your system.

Shifting at the right time is very important to get the best possible lap time. Shift too early or too late and you may be out of the power band, or may bump up against the rev limiter.

The Z1 Dashboard helps you shift at the correct time by flashing the background of the dashboard when it is time to shift. You can choose when this is with several options in the Car 1 tab of the settings dialog.

The 'Flash Dash At' option lets you specify the RPM at which the background should begin to flash.

The 'Auto Redline' option lets you specify whether or not the car should use the value reported by the sim as the redline (Yes) or whether it should use a value entered by you as the redline (No). This is Yes by default. But if you find the sim is reporting an incorrect value you can change this to No.

Finally, 'Redline' tells you the redline of the car. If this is being reported by the sim then it cannot be changed. But if you've set the Auto Redline option to No, then you can enter any value you like here.

These three options allow you to configure the car in any way you like to get the background flashing at the appropriate time for you. And of course you can choose the color in which is flashes as well!
