Did you know you the Z1 Dashboard lets you customize the background color of the gauges in the RUF dashboards? You can have any color you want! Just go to the Car 2 tab of the settings dialog and choose your background color and click OK.

Everyone has their own personality, so make sure your dashboard reflects yours.

Did you know you can customize how the Z1 Dashboard software displays the sector overlay on the track map? There are three different ways you can have the sectors displayed.

    As a solid overlay:

    As a dashed line overlay:

    As a dotted line overlay:

You can also set the colors used for each sector!

All of these options are available in the Track Map tab of the settings dialog. There are so many ways to customize the track maps - make sure you check them all out!

When you are racing you want to know how many laps you have completed in the race. The Z1 Dashboard provides you with that information.

But everyone is different, some want to know how many laps have been completed, and some want to know the lap they are on.

The Z1 has an option called 'Lap Counter' that lets you choose what is displayed. Current means that if you are on lap 10 of a 10 lap race the display will say Lap 10 of 10 (because you are on the 10th lap. Completed means that if you are on lap 10 of a 10 lap race the display will say Lap 9 of 10 (because you have completed 9 laps.)

Just another way the Z1 can be customized to your liking.

The Z1 Dashboard track maps are a very useful tool to help you figure out where you are on track and in traffic. This is especially true when you are in a multi class race and the car behind you might not be one you are racing against.

Each class of car has its own color in the track map dashboard. You can choose if the car's dot is outlined with that color, or filled with that color. Which ever makes it easier for you to view the different car classes.

    Filled in:

    Outlined:

    The Settings Option:

To set your choice go to the Track Map tab of the settings dialog and choose either Fill or Outline from the Car Class drop down.

Pit stop deltas are very important. If you know how long it takes to make your stop you'll be able to tell where you'll end up on track after your stop. This can be useful to make sure you come out ahead of your rivals, or to come out in clear track.

The Z1 Dashboard helps you with this by showing you an 'After Stop' location on the track map once you get within several laps of your pit stop.

The track map also shows your pit stop delta at the bottom of the map with 'PD:' followed by the number of seconds it takes for your stop. This delta can be set by you in the Track Map tab. You can specify an exact number of seconds. Or you can set it to auto. Auto lets the Z1 learn the time it takes based on pit stops you make during the race. So the more you make with the car and track combination the more exact the delta will become.

I just wanna give a thumbs up to Z1 and personally recommend it. the software itself is amazing, especially being able to run 4 instances on multiple screens to see absolutely everything going on - http://fohdeesha.com/data/pictures/other3/z1.jpg

More Important than that though, his support is great. If you have issues or need help, Russell's an email away and always responds in a timely fashion. It's a steal at the new pricing as well

I've just bought it yesterday ;)
Great piece of software, I like the option to switch screens with buttons. I didn't know about multiple instances though, thanks for heads-up.

Hi Russel, are there any plans to make your software run on a Raspberry Pi(linux) in the future? It might be a
low cost solution which could very well work perfectly without spending a heck of a lot of money :)

When racing you need to know when to shift. There are all sorts of indicators including sound and the tach. The Z1 Dashboard adds another option - it will flash the background of the dashboard any color you want once the desired RPMs are reached.

You can set the desired level in the Car 1 tab of the settings dialog. Look for the 'Rev Limiter On At' setting. This number represents the number of RPM below redline that the background of the dashboard will begin to flash. So if the car redlines at 9,000 RPM and you want the background to start flashing at 8,600 RPM you would set this value to 400.

Then when you are on track the dashboard will flash making it really obvious that you've reached the desired RPMs.

The Z1 Dashboard lets you choose how you display various units such as distances, speed and fuel amounts. For distances and speed there are two options, either kilometers or miles. You can choose your desired option in the General tab of the settings dialog under the Units drop down. Choose Metric for kilometers and Imperial for miles.

But did you know for fuel displays there are 5 different options? They are kilograms, liters, pounds, US gallons or UK gallons. To display fuel in either kilograms or liters make sure you have selected Metric as your units. For the other three options choose Imperial as your units.

Then go to the Car 1 tab where the Show Fuel As option is available. Selecting Weight will display the fuel as either kilograms or pounds (depending on your units). Selecting Amount will display the fuel as either liters or gallons (again depending on your units). Finally if you are using gallons then you can specify either US or UK gallon sizes (because yes they are different!)

Just one of the many ways the Z1 Dashboard can be customized to your liking.

We are hard at work on the next version of the Dashboard software. We've already got quite a list of new features and improvements completed. If there is anything you would like added please let us know.

While you wait, here are some of our favorite dashboards from the current version, as well as a hint at something to come in version 4.6.

    The Adjustment Dash

Did you know you can specify how the Z1 Dashboard positions itself on the screen when you launch the program? By default the Z1 will remember where it was when it closed and then try to return to that spot when it launches the next time.

But there are times when it may have been on a monitor that is no longer attached when it relaunches. So it will check to see if the location it thinks it should be in is in fact on screen, and not in some invisible off-screen location. If Windows tells it that it will be off screen then it will position itself in a default location where you can see it.

There are two options in the Display tab called 'Save Loc' and 'Check Loc'. The 'Save Loc' option tells the Z1 to remember where it was when last closed and to reopen there the next time. The 'Check Loc' option tells the Z1 to ask Windows if the starting location is on screen or not before is places itself there.

You can turn off these behaviors by settings either option to No. So if you find the Z1 isn't always returning to where you thought it should, try turning the 'Check Loc' option off.

And as the image for this is a bit boring here is a picture of the Legends dashboard. :)

The Z1 Dashboard has some great stockcar specific dashboards in its inventory. But we don't want to ever sit back and say 'that's it'. We've got two completely new dashboards for oval racing fans coming out in the next version of the software. And as much as we love these dashboards, the new ones look completely different!

We've been posting a lot about how you can customize the Z1 Dashboard software, or how you can get the most out of the Z1 Analyzer. But we must not forget the almost 70 different dashboards that come with the Z1 Dashboard!

So hear are some of our favorites featuring analogue gauges.

We've got one for the Skip Barber
    [IMG]

    One for the Lotus 49
    [IMG]

    One for the Spec Racer
    [IMG]

And one for F1 in the 1980s.

We get a lot of requests asking what the next version will hold. These requests are usually not about a specific feature, but rather just wondering what the next cool aspect of the software will be.

However, there has been one recurring request over the last few months about a particular dashboard. When will we have the new 2016 style NASCAR dashboards, and will the Dashboard software support the 1280x480 screens. The answers are that both these will be in the next release in March. And as a preview, here is what one of the new dashboards looks like.

There are times when you want to use the same general dashboard for all of your cars. That way you get used to the layout of the dash, and things feel comfortable! For these situations the Z1 Dashboard has just the dash for you, funnily enough called the 'Generic Dash'.

This dashboard displays a digital dash that adjust the RPM band to suit the car. And if you've got the LED illumination set to automatic, then it will illuminate the LEDs at appropriate RPM levels as well! Then you focus on racing and winning!

Thought I'd post some pictures of the Z1 LCD Screen. It is the original 4.3" LCD screen that you can use to display the Z1 Dashboard software. Coming in both touch and non touch versions, and starting at just $199 (US), you can't beat it!

Here it is with the carbon fiber front panel:

    In flat black:

    In gloss black:

The specs on the box are:
    • Height: 86mm (3-3/8 inches)
    • Width: 130mm (5-1/8 inches)
    • Depth:20mm (13/16 of an inch)
    • Weight: 175 grams.
