All these sketch up posts... wonder when YOU are going to release something? As apparently Sketch Up can do it.... show us!
I was building a Stock Car mod for some time... Tire was no good and didn't have any help. So I wait until ISI takes us there. It's not nearly as simple as just modeling either. Tons more to it. We've always had something to build on top of, SCE... Scratch builders... Those people get my respect. I just polish stuff and throw my amateur models on it. Shouldn't take long to get that Daytona in though.
If you have access to raster survey and topo data Site Survey can be of use in creating tracks. http://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/2dxy™-sitesurvey™-tools Bezier Surface is a slightly more complicated plugin that's good for working on car surfaces and other organic shapes. http://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/bezier-surface Fractal Terrain Eroder can take low poly objects & terrain and warp, distort and erode them to look natural. http://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/eneroth-fractal-terrain-eroder
Hi Kristoff, I am in the process of learning all this thing for a track. Thanks for all the info, I bookmarked this thread I will look into it really soon ! small little question: I see that sketchup can export in FBX, does that mean that we can export directly for Gjed without using another program ? Thanks
Yes, we're trying to get FBX import now. But export is there now. SO you can go right into gJED. only one problem... you have to make a good UVW map first.
Hello, I have thought initiated into the creation of circuits. I watched the tutorial on how to import a Google Map to SketchUp and want to show my first design. Now I have to figure out what the next step, my English is not good and it cost me a bit but I'll try.
hehe I did the same thing. I imported a section of a track with google, no I don't know how to build things with the elevation and all... I found some tutorial how to create seomthing like a house, but that doesnt help with all the elevation and all :|
I've been working on one too. For roads I would suggest Instant Road... makes things real easy. https://valiarchitects.com/sketchup_scripts/instant-road
When it comes to building cars, this is an easy, and quick, method of doing it! https://arka48.wordpress.com/2014/0...eed-how-i-used-sketchup-to-design-racing-car/
Hi, i just put on google "sketchup and rfactor" and fall on this thread. I'm very pleased that sku works with 3dsimed, the best news today. I'm also far better in sku than 3ds. More user friendly i think imo. I'm new in moding but my question is simple before doing some mistakes : Can i import a track (scn) file into sketchup, work on in as a sku file and them exporting it back for 3dsimed or factor 2? That seams to be possible but do'nt have tested it for now. Thanks
