Adding Decals

I'm playing around (trying) to create my own skins, I'm having trouble adding images to the dds in gimp. When I load my skin in RFactor everything is fine except without the images. I'm new to skinning so I'm guessing it's beginners oversight. Any help is appreciated thanks

 

Are you flattening the layers before export?

Are you exporting the file to the right place?

 

I tried flattening image, is that what you mean? That just distorted everything. I'm pretty sure i'm exporting to the correct place, its fine until I place images onto it. I'll keep trying

I've fixed it, I think I merged layers. Do you know of any tutorials out there on painting skins (mine look ****) Fair play to the guys who can do it

the size of you file... 1024x1024, 2048x2048 and 4096x4096 will give you a wide variation in quality of detail. That and the original dpi of your file.

#Warning# The file size of the Skin will depend greatly on the selection you make in the format of the DDS. I use the selected one below...

I'm pretty sure if you use the 32.32.32.32 it will be the size of a Space Station.

 

Thanks Kristoff I never considered the size would have so much impact, trying to learn as much as I can. Should of started painting on RF1....
