I just got a replacement power adapter for the FFB on an old MS Sidewinder wheel. But when I turn on FFB in rF2 I get all sorts of bizarre physics in the game engine. I've had my car get ripped off the track and fly 50 feet in the air. I've had the AI cars do strange things like get sucked into the ground. Sometimes the game hard-freezes. Other than these strange physics my wheel seems to be behaving normally: I can steer, I feel force feedback. I've tried a few cars and a few tracks and with or without smoothing, all with the same result.

I'm running on Windows 7 with GeForce GTX600m.

Anyone else have the same issue (anyone else still use MS Sidewinder??)

You need to edit the Controller.JSON file. Open it with notepad or better yet download notepad++ and get the json plugin. Default location is Documents\rFactor2\UserData\player.

Find the line the says "Skip updates":0,

Change the 0 to a value between 1 and 3. Try one first then two if the problem remains and so on.

The sidewinder can't handle fast ffb updates.
