I have a friend who builds car models just for fun... He's incredible. The level of detail he goes to in each model is astounding. I was telling him about rFactor and how kool it would be to see his cars in it. I wonder if anyone would like to take up the challenge of building a mod to go with one or some of his cars? Here is an example of his work.
But i fear a race with just 3 cars with the polycount as the shown models will have (i guess), will result in a Framerate from ~3.
He's quite talented isn't he? Yes, I explained that most of his detail would have to live in only the spinner... But that same detail could be used for making incredible textures for the simplified versions that could go on the track. I'll have to figure out what that is... Then I'll talk to him about it. In the mean time here is some of his geometry for that model.
As someone who`s just starting on the long road of learning 3d modelling I`m amazed by this. The detail is just mind blowing and the modelling stunning as I`ve already said... Is he self taught or did he go to college to learn this level of modelling? What software does he use...? Max? Does he do tuts...?
His name is HellnBak and He's self taught to my knowledge... Although he is using our forum, SketchUcation.com, to learn, so I guess not all self taught. We all use mostly Sketchup... We have a few Blender folks, but mostly SU. You're welsome to come over and ask whatever questions you have. Here's a tut for car building. http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=333&t=50771 And here is a youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I-0NYi-fOo
Thanks for the info. I`ll drop by your forum and take a look. I don`t have Sketchup but I have Blender and Max 2014. I`ve dabbled in Blender but now I`m working on a car tut for max. I have a lot to learn though. Cheers.
I talked to him about Group C cars... Showed him this link. He said they don't really interest him too much. he said he's mostly interested in one off vehicles, cars that only existed for a short time or we actually one off's. Let's not try to explain to him that most race cars are exactly that.
