A distinction between the two is in the works, but will not make the next release. Both parallel and queued downloads are also being worked on. As stated by Juergen, an "Install All" button is impractical, since it would involve waiting for many gigs to download before you can run anything. The batch downloads will still be in a modal dialog, which means you won't be able to race until they're done.
Thanks for the info, if I can queue up all the items I want, then it will be the best possible solution.
