As we have already talked, I have removed them because several things have changed since this thread was opened.

Those older versions did not represent what the final mod will be, therefore I needed to remove it.

The wait will be worth it ;-)

Really looking forward to it. If I remember correctly the ffb strength was nearly 0 in the public version. But physics were good.

Edit: Sorry. The car I was talking about was the t70 spyder. My fault. Cheers

    Looking good.
I'm sure I will do nothing but die over and over with this car, but... boy, do I want it! Greatest race car ever. The end.

Wow, my league would gladly have this

wonder what it does against the Lola T280, it sure would cream the Howstons.

If we forget for the moment that we are talking about complete different type of cars and engines (because of the different regulation and restrictions they was built for).
At least not to forget that it is something between hard and impossible to get (in some areas) accurate detailed data for this car's and therefore the simulated car's can't replicate accurate
the physics in some areas. Don't get me wrong I'm very thankfull for this car's in rF2 and I'm a big fan of historical endurance car's.
I mention this only because I try to help here and there and I know how hard and time consuming it is to get data, understand them and integrate them proberly in the enginge.
Kudos to LeStrat, Yoss and all modders in this area :) !

    Back to the question:
I would say it depends off the race track. Tight corners and short straights = advantage for the T280 but in acceleration and top speed the porsche is the benchmark.
The Howston has no chance except Rikard is on the wheel ;)
    ...
    just my two cents

    Exactly what I think.
Mind you, at the transition year 1971 between the old and new regulations, these type of cars raced together, not Lola but similar 3.0 Ferrari 312PB who was just unlucky (teething problems) against 5.0 917.

Yes I see it now :).
I could imagine that multi class races with the 917, T280, T290, T70 and maybe the Howstons could make fun.

I hope people here dont mind but I couldnt resist, after all its about 917's reputation :D

Comparison of 5.0L Porsche 917 K to 3.0L Ferrari 312PB at 1971 World Sportscar Championship season (their placing is at grid, not race finish):

    Buenos Aires 1000km
    917: 1:52.700 1st
    312: 1:52.740 2nd

    12 Hours of Sebring
    312: 2:32.470 2nd
    917: 2:33.840 3rd

    BOAC 1000km
    312: 1:27.400 1st
    917: 1:28.400 3rd

    Monza 1000km
    917: 1:32.930 1st
    312: 1:33.910 2nd

    Spa 1000km
    917: 3:16.000 1st
    312: 3:22.200 5th

    Zeltweg 1000km
    917: 1:39.490 1st
    312: 1:40.100 2nd

    Watkins Glen 6 Hours
    917: 1:08.510 2nd
    312: 1:08.640 32d

So, from 7 races they came face to face, 917 was faster in 5, though in 2 by fraction of a second. Not bad for 312PB with 40% smaller engine.
