Anyone experiencing the loss of crossfire (my case tri-fire) support in the latest 880 build? I've add really good frames with previous builds for the last several months, but with the latest build I'm lucky to get 20fps on any track.
By the way, I'm running AMD 14.9.2 and if I disable crossfire I get the same poor results. So maybe is something with AMD's latest drivers and this build. 14.9.2 ran fine on the previous build.
No problems here with tri-fire and the latest drivers, although I did have problems getting the drivers installed. I had to install with two of my HD7970's disabled, then enable once installed.
Thanks. Are you running 14.9.2 as well? I had some black screens on boot with 14.9 and 14.9.1 that 14.9.2 resolved.
I have a question... Maybe two... Do you guys get the CrossfireX icon indicating that all cards are turned on. My second card just seems to "be there" during rFactor2 play. I use "Open Hardware Monitor" to monitor the temps and speeds of my cards. (two ATI 290Xs) Open Hardware Monitor shows that, basically, the card is just idling where in other sims I get the CrossfireX icon come up on my screen and Open Hardware Monitor shows that both cards are running "full tilt boogie"! Thanks in advance, Bryan
I've got the x-fire icon disabled so I don't see that. MSI afterburner has an on screen display that I use to check temps and that shows all is well. If you're running windowed mode, crossfire will be disabled.
I use this tool : http://www.radeonpro.info/ and it works perfect for me. With the Overlay feature you can insert and overlay ingame your gpu clock, temp, mem clock and usage .....
I discovered the culprit that killed my FPS in the latest build....FXAA. In previous builds I could max everything out including 8 AA and FXAA on. So I have been going through and changing settings and checking results. Figures the last one I check is FXAA and that is the problem. I can now max everything including 18 cars on track at 5760X1080 and get 60-70FPS, but as soon as FXAA is turned on it drops to 10 FPS.
I have a question. You can crossfire with the following cards: Sapphire Radeon Hd 7970 3GB GDDR5 Sapphire Vapor-X 280x R9 Tri-X STD 3GB GDDR5
Yes you can. Both cards are more or less equal too so you won't loose performance. What motherboard are you sticking them in?
Unless something has changed recently then this is incorrect, you can only use Crossfire with two cards of the same model. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
No its correct, A 7870, 7950, 7970 and a 280x use a Tahiti PU and can be crossfired. You can NOT pair a 7870 7950, or 280 series with a 7990 or 290 or 290x, different PU. For AMD crossfire its not about the model, its about the same processing unit and die size. 280x is a rebranded 7970.
Thank you all for the reply. But not quite understand. My translator is not very good. I have a Sapphire Radeon Hd 7970 3GB GDDR5 installed on my computer. Which graphics card should buy to make crossfire. Thank you very much.
Are you sure you can't use a 7950/7970/280/280X with a 7990? A 7990 is essentially just crossfired 7950 (or 7970s) combined on 1 card. You should be able to use that for tri-fire, just like you could use an HD 6990 + HD 6950/6970 setup for tri-fire. No?...
