I started using shoes a few years ago and there's no coming back now. I don't have proper racing shoes so I'm using futsal shoes but they do the trick just fine :)

I have to wear shoes with my Clubsport V2's. If I just go barefoot and my feet get a tiny bit moist I start sliding of the pedals when putting force on them and (if you hit stuff at a bad angle) cut yourself.
A bit the same with socks, you can't really put decent force on the pedals because you just slide of them

Socks, allways. I have two pairs just for racing, "racing socks"!

With shoes I fell nothing. And barefoot is unconfortable for me.

Socks, but I`m with budd... during a long session my right foot can become a little sore when heel/toeing so I`m considering some kind of thin, flat slip on shoe...

    :)

I have used "reinforced" socks (homemade simracing socks:p) for years with the G27, now with T500 pedals (with homemade basherboard style mod) I started using Sparco racing shoes.
Heel&toe has now become a second nature ;), before it was just impossible.
    I'll never go back.

Until CSP V2 socks were enough for me but once I went with load cell (and tuned to ca 60kgf pedal force), finally using racing shoes makes sense.

Inexpensive cork insole to put inside the socks or between two socks.

OK if you use left foot braking only and semiauto shifter.
Not good for right foot braking and manual shifter (with clutch).:(
