I've always raced in my socks, but I guess I'm getting old because brake pedal started to hurt my foot. So I bought some slip-on shoes to race with and now I'm wondering why I never did that before?! It feels like I have much more control if that makes sense. It feels "right". What do you guys wear to race?
G27 Pedals with GTEye spring. Socks in the Winter as my feet are cold. Socks in the Summer as my feet get sweaty. Socks in Autumn and Spring, as it's weird driving without socks.
Light shoes for me. It feels wierd with just socks on my G25. Have better control with a harder sole. Plus isn't it illegal in a lot of states to drive barefoot? Wonder why that is.
Socks. Pedal effort is no where near high enough to make me wish for shoes like a real car. Bare fit stick to the pedals in weird ways.
I thought so too. It took about a good week to get used to the shoes, but now my lap times are improving. I really feel like I have more control especially braking.
I remember someone who told me they raced with baby powder on their feet as their feet tended to sweat. Somehow it involved a small pile of baby powder on the floor between the seat and pedals that the feet were dipped into when they felt sweaty. All I could envision was this Charlie Brown "Pig Pen" sim racer character, racing in a cloud of baby powder that would poof up at every dip into the pile. I nearly injured myself when I fell out of my sim rig at high speed laughing!

Yes water shoes work great, thin sole still gives good feel of the pedal. Good with load cell brakes!
