Agreed. The only issue is that the feeling we are loving--that incredible all-around grip and braking capability and aero effect--is closer to a modern F1 car. These older brutes should be a bit less capable, but I am sure they will still be white knuckle fun even with less (more realistic) tire grip.

I think you're right. I can generally "save" the car at high speeds and have thought that it is too forgiving in those instances and I usually only lose control in 1st or 2nd gear when dealing with a curb and over reving, but.....What a rush!:D I just hope more realistic physics updates don't relegate me to offline as I would like to join the servers soon with this one! I gotsta log more seat time!

Thank you ! I was hosting last week for 5 drivers, but now there is a server from PSR league where I race DRM cars. This server can host for 20 drivers, but its not my server that is hosting right now. It's running just for fun and to test these cars.

We think that the physics of the mod has been appreciated, however, there have been public and private advice on changing some parameters in order to make the model more in line with the real counterpart.

So we floated an idea, create a contest where those who have the ability, can achieve even a small part of physics, an engine file, some changes to the file hdv, new tires, possibly without changing the basic physics.

I think that the main objectives are:

    1) Increase the tire life.
    2) Make the shift times more realistic.
    3) Increase the braking distance.

Anyone wishing to contribute can post the file in this way:

    - Author: "Author"
    - Description: "bla bla bla ........"
    - File: "LINK"

If you want a base to make test, you can use this car test:

Great idea! Wish I had the modding talent to contribute.

The first and easiest step and what would be great to compare with current version is just one change--make the tires last longer with a harder, less grippy compound. If we could experience that change first, it would help to know what needs to be changed to extend the brake distances to a more realistic level. How much is just the tires??

Once we know that, reducing the aero effect would be next. It's probably too close to a modern level of aerodynamic downforce than 1992, but....who can confirm this?

I would be shocked if a combination of those two didn't fix the braking, but as step 3, it too may need to be reduced.

Shift times and working on paddles (auto-blip and shift-without-lifting) would be awesome also, but unrelated to the issues above.

Regards to physics, who else thinks the 2014 FR3.5 physics with a couple hundred extra HP a little less areo/df and also a little less breaking power could suit this mod? :)

I don't know about the FR3.5 physics, the low speed grip is not so good as F1-92.

Take a look to a post I made before (I think 1 page back) about tire wear y fuel load.

Another thing I think is wrong right now, it's the top speed. These cars should be able to get 340 km/h at the circuit as Hockenheim (the old one), but right know it's not possible to reach 310.

About lap times and tires, it is possible at Silverstone to get a 1.32 in a hot lap, but on the race you can't go under 1.37 (with 150 litres on the tank) or your tires will last nothing. I think races will be all about tire wear and race rhythm instead speed.
