I find it to be quite sporty and healthy: Online multiplayer league Race. Track: Silverstone Length: 27 laps Wheel: G27 Car: Brabham BT20 Gears: Manual (H shifting) Clutch: Manual Pulsometer results ------------------- Total time: 1:02:20 BPM Avg: 124 BPM Max: 153 Calories: 660 Kcal
Uh...thats a crazy heart rate man...for sitting still basically XD The only thing I find is tyhat I sweat like a pig when I really start going flat out. Pissing sweat...mm
Very interesting, curious to know what your BPM is at rest? (for comparison) I do also sweat somewhat when racing. maybe because the blood is being pumped that much faster due to adrenaline etc...
That is incredible! Avg BPM 124 that is crazy! 660 cals... if that is true I can tell my wife that Im going to go exercise and hit the sim! nice post gorka
My BPM ist nearly 70 while racing except at the start. I don´t know what others do to sweat and so on.
Heh. I was thinking about this earlier after a online race in another sim, I was sweating so bad I actually had sweat stains on my shirt. In fairness, the AC ain't working, it's summer, can't turn the fan on and of course a PC generates heat. So it was probably close to 85/90F in my driving position. Add in some concentration for laps on end, not difficult to see why. I've often wondered about it though, it's intense! Wouldn't call it a workout, but as far as video games go... I wonder how it stacks up. Could it actually sort of maybe pass as a "physical activity" even though I think most all of us would say it's not? You aren't just sitting there, well, most of us aren't. My headset is still kind of sweaty feeling, and that was about 4 hours ago. < We need a puke smiley. All I got to say is I hate summer. LOL I should start wearing a firesuit, I'd melt away the weight I think. Get some wrist weights as well for extra buffness. Add a helmet, hang lead weights on it.
My heart rarely beats faster, maybe a tiny bit in a real tense race. I've only had that a handful of times though. I just pass sweat though, like above, enough to leave sweat marks XD. I don't usually sweat much, so it must just be the focus and concentration or something. Or maybe I'm holding my body tense or something.
I warn everyone, if you get an actual racing seat the foam padding will make you sweat more. Great for endurance races, in the winter.
It much depends on the car you're driving, if you're driving manual gears, clutch pedal... and also the concentration of the batles of a race. The 60's cars at the limit make you work your arms constantly.
BTW this is part of a tweet from Fernando Alonso a few days ago: GP Austria; Heart rate: 140 average, 167 max
660 Kcal = 660000 Calorie lol Hour of fast bike ride average weight is 800/900 Calorie so 660 for simming with good force sounds about right.
Hehee, nice info about heart rates! Going to buy this GPS sport watch... http://www.polar.com/en/products/improve_fitness/running_multisport/RC3_GPS ... so I'll do tests too. I'm also sweating while racing hard and for sure it depends on the car how difficult it's to drive. Of course opponent level has big impact too. BTW DD: Cal = kcal = 1000 cal. Don't know what Kcal is though!
About cal and kcal. What we call food/energy calories are in fact kcal (even though we only sale "calories" instead of "kilo-calories" to simplify). An apple (for example) actually provides 60000cal, so we represent it as 60kcal and say "sixty calories", but in fact they are 60 kilo-calories
Yep, more information here (for those of us who like to split hairs ): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calorie
hmmmm..... I had a heart attack not long ago and monitor my heart rate alot. If your average is 124 when racing I would advise you to get it checked out. While league racing I would be at about 85 to 95 bpm while at the start it would max out at maybe 110 to 120. At rest I'm normally about 70 to 75 bpm which is about where it should be thanks to the big stent I have in there now How are you monitoring your heart rate?
