He was one of the greatest personalities in motor racing ever, and he shaped and influenced one of the greatest eras like almost no other. Thanks Jack, and rest in peace!
RIP Sir Jack... this news really saddens me. He was my hero back in the day when I first picked up GPL.. Godspeed Sir, you will be missed.
Yes my thoughts echo all of yours, truly nice man & his own man, RIP Jack Quote: "I don't care at all if people know me or don't know me," he says flatly. "What does it matter at all? I'm happy with what I've done and have no particular desire for recognition.". ..end quote

Great film Durge, I was 9 and 10 years old in 66 and 67, I was drawn into motor racing ( as a fan lol ) when I walked across Dandenong Rd to the fence at Sandown to watch these cars with a friend and his dad ,who was a motor racing fan. I couldn't get over the speed and the sound that day and have stayed a fan ever since. Hard to beat 3 world championships. People talk of great Australian sports people like Don Bradman,Rod Laver,Walter Lindrum, Dawn Fraser and others but Jack was kept in their shadows to a degree when in reality, he was right up at the top of the list to the rest of the world. ISI have already paid him a great tribute with the BT20, all they need to do now is add and era correct Sandown to top it all off lol.
The irony is that I originally bought RF2 for the historic Grand Prix cars and tracks... and was dissapointed to find that there was not the well-known Lotus, just a "Brabham". Which I knew nothing about because I was just getting into that era of motorsport. Then I started reading a bit about the man and the team, and it's an incredible success story. So thanks to ISI for giving us a chance to experience this car and farewell to a great racer I wouldn't have known without this title.
RIP Jack Brabham. We've setup a server running the BT20 Brabhams on '! SR4L Server 1'. Do feel free to drop in for lots of races to remember the great life of the great man. DJC
