I've been offline for quite a while, so I decided to update rF2.

When I opened the Launcher, I had to try and reset my password since it didn't store it for some reason. Well, this is what I seen when I clicked on the Purchase tab:

A detectable CPU, permanent storage device, and an Ethernet or wireless (802.11) card are required to purchase the simulation. Currently, this application cannot detect these components. If these components are available and you believe this message is an error, please contact support@rfactor.net

Cannot locate a valid network adapter. Only network adapters reported by the operating system to be an Ethernet or wireless (802.11) devices are valid.

Cannot locate a valid primary hard drive. A permanent storage device must be present.

Now, I can connect to this forum to post this...so I'm guessing the Ethernet parts working fine....I can configure rF2, so I'm guessing the detectable CPU and permanent storage devices are working fine as well.

Since it's been such a long time, would it be better for me to completely uninstall rF2 and reinstall the latest version?

Update - I still see this when installing the latest version. I can log in and manage my account in the Profile tab, so again...I'm guessing the Ethernet problem that's being reported on the Purchase window is actually working.

    Update 2 - This is what I see when I start rF2:

    View attachment 12609

The Purchase screen still shows what I posted above...even though I can log in on the Profile tab and use the Update tab to make sure my version's up to date.

Possibly a corrupted credentials file. Try this it won't hurt. Originally posted by Hectari.

Found my fix for this and just posted it in the Bug Reports section

    http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.ph...H-MSVCR110-dll

Fix is simply to remove your Credentials file from the folder: Appdata -> Roaming -> rfactor

If the launcher works again after you remove it, just Login again and the file will be recreated, see if that fixes it for you.

I've deleted EVERYTHING associated with rF2 from my PC...still having the problem.

ISI Support sent me a "ISI Hardware Diagnostic" program....for some strange reason, rF2 doesn't see my SSD primary drive. It used to see it fine and rF2 ran fine....doesn't now. Waiting on Support to let me know what "problems" I have with my PC, even though EVERY OTHER PROGRAM I have installed runs without a single glitch.

How is your SSD connected? mSATA, SATA, PCIe, USB?

The hardware diagnostic tool uses built in windows tools to detect hardware. If windows cannot see it then any code I can compose using the windows API will not see it.

I think I've solved my problem...whenever my external USB3 connected storage drive is connected, I get that error message. Whenever I disconnect it, rF2 runs fine and the error message is gone. Jeremy, I do thank you for your professional support attitude in attempting to solve my problem, though...it was welcome to see

Seeing as I really don't care to have to disconnect equipment that shouldn't interfere in any way with a game to play a specific one, combined with the facts that my online subscription is close to running out and more importantly, the arrogant attitude of the ISI support staffer in the emails I received concerning this problem...I figure it's best for me to just move on from rF2.

It's a shame, especially since I've owned every single title ISI's made since SCGT, including all the EA F1 titles. Good luck to ISI in the future and here's to hoping that rF2 becomes what everyone expects it to be....cheers.

Well, that is a shame. Your lasting legacy is that I will attempt to diagnose and fix this problem so if you ever return it should be resolved. Ironically, I have already personally ordered, and was delivered last night, an esata and usb 3.0 docking station to help me with my home IT tasks and I had an wild idea this might be the issue.

If you get a change I would love to solve this. I will send you a PM with more details so as not to expose any of your private information
