[REL] Delta Best plugin for rFactor 2

Ouch, actually the CSV telemetry does not have the mLapDist variable... so that doesn't help in finding what's the problem.

 

The CPU occupancy tipically looks like this all the time during practise:

cosimo, this sounds like the same problem I reported in posts 254 and 258. I stopped using the plugin after that.

 

I think I have got a clue. This figures go "crazy" when I have made a bigger mistake on the previous lap and lost noticeable time. Here is the thing:
- I start the warmup lap, Delta os "off".
- I make the first lap, Delta still doesn't show anything (of course)
- but if I make a mistake on this lap, the next lap (when Delta starts to show the difference time)
- Delta will work properly only until the point when I have made the mistake!

After that point if I stop the car, the delta will be correct, but when I start it, it goes wrong again, it miscalculates the delta time. It seems to me that it uses a wrong data as a reference - at the first "delta" lap it uses my "all time very best" time, and after the second lap it seems to use a mixture of my best lap and my last lap.

Am I crazy or what?

 

I have read Flatspotters 254-258 and Cosimo's answer. In my case I haven't crashed: just stopped for 6-7 seconds at the first corner, then I started to race again.

 

For rf1 rfactor 1

Does anyone knows a similar plugin for rf1?
or any plugin with real time delta-time

 

As far as I know nothing similar exists for rF1.

That may happen, yes, but should go away the moment you score a faster lap,
unless you just do those two laps and you stop...

I hope we are not calling this a problem or worried about it if all resets back to normal after you do TWO normal laps in a row, which isn't too much to ask.

 

A quick update for the loyal followers of this plugin

I think I got the basic code in place to make best laps persistent across sessions.
That means, now the plugin will save a file with the best lap data by track and vehicle class (f.ex.: "rFactor2\Userdata\player\Settings\SaoPaulo\DeltaBest_Brabham BT20.lap").

Next time you load a session with the same Track and Vehicle, the lap will be automatically loaded from the saved file at the start of the new session.
Effectively this makes your best laps persistent.

Not sure if anyone needed this, but I did. Very badly
If anyone would like to test this very early "persistent-laps" code, give me a shout.
Of course it might crash and burn, etc.. YMMV

 

Wow that's a really nice addition! Something like that was needed indeed.

 

can you add a configurable shortcut for reseting the bestlap or even make it deativatable in the ini? Laptime normally drop as you drive longer on one track because of grip build up. So if you come back to the serer the next day you would be able to set the laptimes which you drove the day before

 

I guess the solution there would just be to delete the best lap file from the Settings folder.

I confirm the problem with zandvoort. However, in that track, the bar that shows drivers' position in the track goes crazy in the first sector with disappearing drivers. There must be an issue in the aiw file of that track.
