Just returning to rf2. I have version 1.042 build 69. Logged in fine. When I use the updater, I get this message: "An error occurred while attempting to connect to update server." According to the rf2 website, that is all i have to do to update the game. So what am I missing?
You can't update from that old a build. You could update installing the Lite version on top of it but its recommended to uninstall the old one and re-install. I think you even need to re-download cars etc as they changed file formats and updated quite a bunch. So basically start a fresh.
Experience has shown that the updater only seems to cope with updating properly from the previous version, trying to update older versions is more likely to fail the older you go. Your version is so old (think its the 3rd update and now we're on to the 21st) that you should just delete the lot (and any content because that'll be out of date too) and download the latest rFactor 2 Lite (Build 494) and take your pick from the rest of the content on that page. Since you last used it the SDK (AKA DevMode) is now available separately here if you should want it. The installer for it is the same as the rFactor 2 Lite installer and you just install to the same place.
