For the next build ISI should implement the Depth of Field filter as option in the external view camera....

Agreed. Replays don't look right without it.

Totally agree, DOF and Motion Blur for replays.

Rubber band effect on camera's while we're at it? :) (not moving along perfectly in sync with the car that is being followed, iRacing does this very well)

I'm really not bothered about dof

It's a guaranteed fps killer too

A lot of iracing members kept demanding it so it was introduced for replays yet not many use it ( due to fps I think )

No one really mentions it in iracing now (even the members that run in 2d )

P.s I just realised -I only run in nvidia 3d vision so my view is bound to be very different I guess, I'm kind of thinking the oculus rift will really catch on especially for sim racing so effects like dof will really not be even thought about
(As the rift also displays in very good 3d )

Is this what you are looking for

    View attachment 13063

    Lola B12/60 At Silverstone.
    Blur effects are done afterwards.

    No offence, but no :)

That's a pretty good example of how not to add DOF blur. It should be based on distance, so the fence at the same distance as the unblurred car shouldn't be blurred either.

DOF as a replay option of some sort, sure. Forced as a camera settings in replays, no thanks. Forced in the game itself - never, ever, ever ;)

    +1

I think this is the perfect moment to add features like this. As Adrianstealth said it will be a FPS killer but that could be solved adding the option to turn on/off. That could be a good addition to add DOF settings in replay cameras as desired.

I'm not especially fussed about depth of field, if I'm perfectly honest. Both AC and iRacing have this option, but honestly, other than for screenshots, it simply looks artificial (to me). So in iRacing's case at least, I leave this option switched off, even though on the whole my PC can cope with it reasonably well. I actually find myself noticing dof effects more than I perhaps should, when they are enabled, as opposed to not noticing that they're not there, when they're not.

There, lets see if any of you can get your heads round that last sentence. :)

EDIT: An option to satisfy both sides of the fence would be most welcomed, of course.

DOF is a camera thing... if we are looking through eyes, it should not be used.

The OP does say the external view camera, so I don't think there's any suggestion of it being in the cockpit view for example.

If it were implemented I don't see why it couldn't be an extra button in the replay interface (dedicated replay mode, but also the monitor replay) to toggle the effect on and off. That way everyone can just use what they want.

DOD already exists, it's called 3D. That way you decide what you want to focus on and look at :)

Of course DOP could look wrong in cockpit camera, as said it should be a feature for external cameras and add a specific parameters for that for the *.cam track file.

I honestly hope this doesn't become priority. Something like rain on the windshield or visor should be ahead of this on a "to do" list IMO. Another thing is sparks from bottoming out the car. Again, just my opinion though. :)
