Thanks Tuttle, probably it's a problem with AMD (one more). Mirrors are very important and right now it's almost impossible to activate on race.

I have 5 fps drop in my current nvidia and i had 5 fps drop in my old ATI.

In your shoes, the first thing i would try is to create a fresh player (and, clear, testing the result using stock contents)

Since some are asking, the WSGT2 Megane uses a 2048x128 mirror resolution. It looks like most of the older ISI content like the F2 and Clio use this as well, can't check for the newer content as those files are encrypted.

    AMD HD7850 (overclocked)
    Default PLR
    Fresh Shaders/Cbash folders
    370z @ Palm Beach
    No AI, Practice Session
Green Bar was almost Full (does'nt show in screenshots)

Did'nt matter which selection of Mirrors I had (Virtual or just Cockpit) as the FPS was the same when they were On....but just look at the difference to Off!

Or, you could look at it another way: Maybe their mirrors are always rendered, and simply made invisible when you turn them off. You don't lose, but you're also not GAINING when you change an option which in rF2 does gain FPS. Wow, I think my head just exploded with glass half fullness.

Agree, that`s an option, I didn`t think about it. TNX for your answer, that makes sense.

Funny as I suspected the same recently : they add AIs races and I only lose very few fps, I think AI cars were already here, computed, etc. just not displayed. Possibly same for mirrors...sound Tricky! ;)

yep, all I'm hoping for is that the Mirrors are the Holy Grail of performance issues for AMD cards and ISI can work on this area to optimise further....then we'll see what happens :)

If FPS is an issue on your computer system this may help (as it helped on mine):

    modify in player.plr:
Rearview_Back_Clip="60.00000" // Back plane distance for mirror (0.0 = use default for scene)

I tried that in an older build and noticed barely any difference, lowering the clipping plane means you lose opponents too so not really an option for me personally.

I'm not able to show screenshots now, but I always get fps drop with mirrors.

Loch Drummond MIRRORS ON - around 95 stable fps
Loch Drummond MIRRORS OFF - around 125 stable fps

I play with a GTX650 2GB at 720p with medium/high settings and AA at minimun to get great input response while driving (I can race with more than 60 fps at 1080 but I'm used to 720 response... I feel way more confortable and faster).

I have no memory problems or visible bottlenecks.

I have no fps drop either when activating mirrors. Nvidia. Should I? Tim's reply is confusing for me. I don't know if he is being ironical or talking seriously.

My LOL wasn't to be ofensive in any way, just write that because of the way that user started his post nothing more.

But beside that i don't see the point of get alwys something from the other sims to compare with this one in situations like this. We all know that the game code have problems and we must believe that this will be fixed... At least i hope so...

Sorry if my post look ofensive to anyone

My answer because it does. Why not try a FOV where you don't need to use virtual mirrors and use the 1s provided by the mod. IMHO the FOV is only good for triples, so on a single use what you want to to get the screen the way you want it.

For me there is no difference between virtual, phisical, or both activated, all options ends in the same amount of fps drop.

On my Texas Instrument TI-83 calculator, mirrors cost me even more fps.

Yeah, it doesn't matter which mirrors they are. The FPS change (which I haven't tested recently, so I'm not contributing any example figures to the discussion) only happens when flicking between all mirrors OFF, and any mirrors on. Virtual or not.

Here is an odd one to work out...

Just my Formula ISI at Brianza 1966, I get LESS fps (~54) with MIRRORS OFF (58-60 with any mirror combo on)!

    Is "software" sync responsible, maybe?
