Thanks guys for trying too help me. I really appreciated it. I've found those files, deleted them, copied in my old files, reinstalled rfactor2 lite, reactivated about 3 times.... all with no luck. I' m now going to try and find this email Tim was talking about and email that. I really enjoyed rfactor2 up until this point.... but now I'm starting to like the old rfactor1 again....kind of wish now I hadn't bought the lifetime of rfacto2... Thanks PMC and nowayjose.
Silly question but are you logged in ? It really isn't that hard . Install rFactor2 ,replace .rFactor file(License) and away you go. EDIT: If Tim has reset your activations i'm unsure if previous license is still valid . Activations are automatic until you've reached 5. Don't blame the game this seems a clear case of user error
Nope. I was logged in. Unfortunately my game hasn't reacted this way. No it shouldn't be that hard. I installed my Win 7 Ultimate operating with more ease right before reinstalling rFactor2.
Tim was unwilling to help me. I guess He had reached his quota of helping people with this situation through this thread I guess.
No not true , Tim has given you all the help possible from his end . If you have a valid backed up license you shouldn't have a problem . If you still have activations left Tim cant help you again.
Please feel free to contact support. After a reformat, it is a very simple process: 1. install rf2 2. Go to putchase tab, login there. 3. Click reactivate. If you are having some other problem, you have not yet communicated that. But I now suggest contacting support.
As I stated earlier, my rf2 is on another drive. Drive D. The operating system I upgraded is on Drive C. I installed the rf2 lite over top of my existing rf2, logged in at the purchase tab, clicked reactivate at least 3 different times. The pictures went from grey to full colour but don't work. Then I tried suggestions from other people. I copied all the old .rfactor files into the new .rfactor folder. That didn't work. I sent in an email to support. Thanks Tim. I am sorry to have bothered you. But this is an easy process that hasn't worked for me.
Thanks. I will probably do this. My windows install was fully updated and I'll wait for a response from support. It's not so simple anymore. This is why I was so frustrated. Thanks for all the help. I do really appreciate it.
The only thing that bothered me was the wording in your previous post mentioning me. Did you change the paths on the advanced tab to match the paths your rf2 is now located at? When it went full color, it was working, thats what that means. You ACTIVATED twice successfully on 1/29, if the SOFTWARE isn't working, then fix your paths that you moved. The software doesn't know unless you tell it.
The times you activated and had color, activation worked, software couldn't unless you fix paths. When you copied over the old activation, you killed your activation. Made it not work. And probably the paths are still broken. Reinstall. it's as easy or as complicated as you make it, unfortunately. Doesn't have to be difficult.
I didn't have to change any paths in the advanced tab because I never changed where rf2 was located. But the paths are/were correct. Tim, I apologize for my wording in the previous post.
When you try to keep "installed" software on another drive and reinstall the OS, you're very lucky when stuff works. You can't blame the game here. I can't believe you don't have any other problems!
Tim and nowayjose, I got it working about 5 minutes ago. I uninstalled the old rf2 and reinstalled everything. I'm still not 100% sure what the problem was but it's working. Thank you so much for the help.
