saw an interesting discussion on another forum about the number of people who play AI over MP and vice versa, thought it would be cool to get a poll going just to see what the forumites here prefer....so vote away!

I race the AI a lot for convenience and also so I know that if I hit someone that I haven't wreaked a real persons race! Often I'll look at a race that has been setup on the official servers and and then setup an AI race to see how my lap times compare. I'm slowly getting the skill and confidence to race properly so I'm playing occasionally on the official servers; but I don't really have the time or commitment for anything more organised.
Getting to actually race online is still a faff really! Until they let you join a server without having to have all the tracks installed........ And having to wait while a race is finished isn't good.
Mainly AI but some MP because I am not part of a clan / team / league and so only use the public servers which often end in 1st corner crashes or massive lag / server issues.
I prefer a good MP, I have no really fun with AI only, but as said hoover , a good AI can be perfect to fill the grid when racing with some friends !
Offline mainly for testing things and trying out new tracks and cars that I don't find online. But for serious racing I use online only.
Mostly AI which avoids the whole vmod -oh you don't have version 0.01x of asshat gp no tire stacks which is not what is being raced here but that we have put as one of the 22 track requirements mostly because we don't like you- thing.
The AI are great but far too predictable. MP can be frustrating, but AI never spin out on the last lap because you pressurized them. MP adds psychology, you got to love that. Can't remember the last time I got frustrated over not being able to join a server because of a mismatch. You have the track torrent, everything public gets posted on here. Usually the problems arise from whoever is hosting anyway not making their mod available for download or whatever it is you have to do. Hosting could and should be easier, and the MP lobby needs sorting out, filters, ping, laps remaining, who is playing, should all be visible from the lobby. If they did that MP would be 100x better.
"Hey guys, would you mind pulling over for 10 mins, the baby just woke up and needs feeding" is not a welcomed phrase, so AI only for me. They don't mind the odd pause here and there.
I am now only racing against AI. That way I can race wherever I want whenever I want with whatever I want. AI is pretty good for my purposes, which is mainly meditation / sense of renewal I get from focus/concentration.
I don't even know what the AI is like in rf2. MP only. I would not have it any other way. But then again, I race in a league and that is generally miles away from public racing. community racing is where its at
