Hi guys, I tried to compare 2 different vga cards and they are not close. The difficult thing is; at one card, x and y are better, at the other card, a and b are better........ Now I have no clue what "the thing" is that rF2 uses most/best or has the most use. Could you help me out here? I got this link: http://www.hwcompare.com/13164/geforce-gtx-480-vs-geforce-gtx-660-ti/ So........which of the bars is more important and what card is the best for rF2?
The 660Ti is more modern and can process more information. The 480 is theoretically superior in a few places if you turn up the anti-aliasing (I don't really believe it), but the 660Ti is clearly a better choice. High clock speed, more memory, less power usage too. http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/inde...e-gtx-660-ti-power-edition-vs-geforce-gtx-480
Hi, tbh the 480gtx is an extremely capable card, more so than the 660ti. The only trouble is the thermal envelope for 480gtx's is horrific and its like having a small aircraft taking off noise wise under load, typically around 85%+ under load. The 660ti is a lower part 2 generations on, so performance wise I think they would probably be similar give or take a couple of frames anyway, but the 660ti will be much quieter, use a lot less juice and make way less heat. there is a comparison fps wise on this thread down the page - here it only lists the 470gtx oc, but look to the 580gtx which is a perfomance boosted part and still fermi, around 12% quicker than a 480gtx when I compared first hand, generally speaking of course. As you can see very similar, I would go with the 660ti here but would honestly recommend holding out for a 670/770gtx as that's where they become seriously good with bells and whistles. If you don't care for good AA etc then the 660ti will be better long term imo. Only exception to this is if you pick up a 480gtx second hand, they are throwaway money. Good Luck
Gabriel; now you're just showing off Hehe, you always seem to find what I don't can, lol! Anyway, thanks guys; I'm a lot wiser now (not in the last place to the fact I'm the worst googler ever ) but I know enough, so thanks!
I haven't tried an ATI with rF2, but read lots of complaints about it. ATI is well known for having driver issues with many games over the years, maybe that's why.
In my case, I had a 470 that was burned (I have no idea if the fan failure or what happened) and how I enrage a lot I decided to try AMD, I bought a 7870, theoretically, in general terms has a little better performance than the 470, but not so in rFactor 2...I had to drop some graphic things, in order to have the beloved 60FPS, Not a big deal but if there is a difference unfortunately
That sucks. I'll be upgrading a lot, so I should at least see an improvement for rF2 anyway. Did ISI says anything about why this is?
If it was crap, and in the worst economic time like everything else I do not think that is much to blame ISI, I think it is rather than AMD, but honestly I do not know, is a shame because AMD priced is a very good option, also...today highly recommend so I happened, very good GPU cooling, as the Twin Frozr series are very cold, I really liked that MSI and prices obviously
Yes ISI has stated in threads that ATI does not listen to small developers. Nvidia will work with a small dev in order to correct driver issues that their game is having, AMD will not. Seriously you should go with nvidia if you didn't already order your card. You will most likely be sorry if you dont. Drivers are everything.
I built a computer last summer speced with a GTX480. At the time it was a lot of GPU for the money. I was satisfied with its rF2 performance until it died. It was under waranty so EVGA sent me a 660TI as a replacement (GTX480 being discontinued). For rF2 the 660TI is significantly better/ SW
I have had similar experiences with AMD 3xxx 4xxx 5xxx cards. They were real fanboy material but I never ever got the sort of results claimed and usually the competing nvidia was cheaper and better bang for buck for mine. Ahh old days I never liked netframe ( for Cat) on my "Sim OS" , still only run it on my " FSX/Railworks and Games that bloat users OS "
