I think add a longer practice session. Reason being when there is not many in they can hotlap for a hour say and just vote for qual anytime. I come in some days and there is 2 -3 people for hours Australian time. So if room was full you would vote and bypass practice. We are all totally reasonable blokes in voting in Historics, I dare say the rest are too. Have Practice 1 Hour and light preset and keep Quallie rubber and time as it is.
Good idea DD Practice is needed, voting can happen anytime, I joined earlier to try out the eve and that oval bit of monza and it was suddenly a race without me even doing a single Lap, I know this could also happen even if practice session were included but less races & more practice I think is needed
I'd like there to be set race start times (I.e. all races start on the hour). That way everyone knows when a race will start and can either hang around or come back in time depending if they have something else to do. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
I agree one of the many reasons having that hotlap / training / practice session Since you can understand me p and I have right vibe what do you think about this idea: Mind you this is request for down the track. 1. Have 3 servers designated ROOKIES , PRO/AM and PRO The one thing in common these 3 servers would have is they would run ALL ISI content available. ( i will come back to the reason for this ) Obviously aids , rubber , weather, session times, race distance would vary for the 3 rooms. 2. Monster Rank With these rooms run over a year you could run all combos and have enough data to have Monster Rank ( I see some drivers very strong that run 3-5 servers .......Monster candidates ) A strong reason for me though is I do not like/ can't drive other cars , I should learn to drive everything and a monster Rank would be a good way to work up.
Good idea. Another day i was left alone in some server but keep practicing online because of the rubbered track but not so much time i want because the server keep changing sessions. But knowing people behavior, i know the voting will cause problems. Some people like to be controlled by higher forces (ISI official server settings), some doesn´t vote just to irritate someone, some will get mad because some people just want to keep practicing, and so on... I would like correct info before entering a server. Simple "race will happen in X minutes" would be good on matchmaker. Auto-refresh matchmaker status in 3 or 5 min. Best lap of the day, of the week and of all time info on server (like porn sites do with their videos ehehe) Terminate the received folder for garage setup. Just send direct to active folder in the moment. Record my PB lap in my setup space to make notes
Nice one Durge. Practice time is a good idea. Session 1 practice max. time Session 2 quali 15 min. Session 3 race 30 min. Alone on the server -->we can use the train time for hotlapping or improve the setup, when come more guys -->all can vote to quali and race or not (not means all are happy with the big train time and improve setups or run many laps )
For me the current settings without practise on the ISI servers are absolutly ok. I don't need a practise session. Online I want to race against others and not doing tests. When I want to practise I go offline and do my setup tests. When I find a good one I go back to online. When you're alone on a server you can restart quali session for testing as often as you want. So no practise session is needed...
I agree too from your perspective Didi, personally I do not offline I spend all my time helping promote online. You can also skip a session as easy as restart a session so it sort of cancels out. If your contention is when there is more then 7 drivers they will hold up quali and races in lieu of a 30 minute practice session, well I can't see it. The obvious benefit would be when there is not 7 drivers and people are just happy lapping together you can wait for others to join then start quallie with 8+ straight away.
Yes a mighty fine idea, of course people may do a vote but this is fine also, a race on the hour would make it a slightly bigger event too, give people plenty of time to practice / qualify / prepare in between etc
I really like the isi bt20's & the Eve's, I'd be happy for a server to stick with these cars and simply rotate the track each week, it would be good for people that need practice too ( as opposed to changing the cars to much ). A race on the hour would be great for this too Are we just really stuck to monza66 / spa66 (both great tracks) & monaco66 ?? (monaco ran terrible on my PC the last time I tried hope it's better now) Or is the intention for other isi tracks to be put up also ? (The modern day ones ) Be good if say we could have a rotation of about x6 tracks, so it would be a 6 week season etc (This might be my iracing type thinking again lol )
Maybe you guys are not in here like now with 3 drivers the last 3-4 hours. Play take the turn restarting quali oh dear With a longer sessions atm we could do more laps , compare sectors and runs with diff sets, help rookies lapping slower without bugging people, chat without bugging people. " I find someone saying I do all practice and setups offline, I just want to race " slightly arrogant, what about the people spend all there time online, helping people. His way denies me practice sessions when only 2 people on. My way I deny him nothing. Any excuse about people not voting is not founded I been on server every day. I also find the assertion 8 drivers will vote to stay in practice laughable.
@Adrian If you had : 28min Prac ( to allow for session restarts should cover it ) 10min Qual 20min Race Then you could have a race on the hour every hour by disabling voting. 24 races on each server a day not enough ?
Hiya dd Yes that sounds good, would improve how it is now IMO Be great if the Historics could stick to very similar cars like the bt20's & the Eve's Maybe a different isi server can do a mixed thing by flicking through diferent cars or maybe mixed class just to keep every one happy A track rotation of around x6 tracks would be good, 1 track for one week then change to next one on list Or even the Historic server mixed class eg bt20 / eve / 1 or 2 other Historics that way people can (if they wish) stick to their main car, the Historic server is popular so I'm sure mixed class wouldn't dilute it to much (I think I'd stick to bt20's) That would be super EDIT : disable voting -good idea , never thought of that, people then know that when they screw up their start and wipe out half the field that they simply can't restart the race then. Be good if the vote to kick a trouble maker could stay though, just in case lol +more damage would be nice , maybe 50% ( or more dare I say ) I think Tim controls all this? Not sure if he's open to change or what other think about possible changes
+I'm surprised that the demand for online isn't higher the historic server has good attendance which keeps me happy but I would have expected most of the official ISI servers to be pretty full peak times, the live timing and fast lap log etc is a good system. Maybe it's all still a tad undercover etc, not really been advertised or pushed, the same with rf2 to a certain degree, Be good for some decent updates/build fixes to some of the noticeable graphic glitches and rf2 / online aspect to be promoted, that would be great for the community/ISI/rf2 I'm sure.
Fwiw one of the benefits of quali/race as a quick-format is people willing to wait for the next round when they just join or crash out. So the flow in and out would be smoother. Adding practise and it becomes a race weekend where people use the server for practise. And quick-joiners will probably leave when it takes too long, not return or wait when they dnf. It becomes a thing for the dedicated and regulars. which in my mind is the thing to avoid in public racing. I always thought the current routine works like a charm. It also sets itself apart from all the other servers and ISI servers become the place for instant action. In fact more public servers should adopt it imo.
That's my opinion, too @Durge: I can understand your point of view regarding help to others. You have my full respect for spending so much time in helping rookies!!! Maybe we can just start a democratic vote, if ISI should add a training session to their servers or not?
IDEAS for servers? Change the start time so we have night or dusk races. This feature on rf2 is greatly under used
Good idea I always use 5X time of day at least, more at night , I like to start 4am at Longford 10x hour session finish 2pm Make 20 minute race 3PM start you use headlights at end of race . Only thing is inconsistency between systems and HDR for people would cause hassles.
