    Double darn it, rf2 crashes within about 30mins ( sometimes 10 to 15 sometimes 40mins )

I have no over heating issues ( all water cooled & PC runs consistently cool due this )

My PC was completely re-instated (HD erased fresh install of win7 )

I only have x2 other titles on my hard drive which are completely stable

I do run an overclock ( stable ) but as a test ran everything at stock etc but still a crash

Rf2 runs fine until PC crash ( black screen , can not alt/tab/delete to stop programme , I have to turn off then back on )

I suspected nvidia driver , but I'm on the very latest which seems stable on everything else

This build was a clean install ( no auto updater etc )

    Any ideas ?

I had the same thing, it was HDR in previous builds. Never traced the cause because lazy and my system aint that great to begin with. 342 is ok now.
Prolly not the same issue looking at your specs but...

Gosh I never would have suspected this & yes I'm using the isi HDR profile ( Monza 66 )
I prefer it , looks good , I think these we're supplied prior to this build, shame they don't update them with new build if they can cause these problems

I'll try with no profile as a test

Who could have thought an HDR profile would bring a whole system to a halt

    Thanks for posting

    Cheers Jim

I'll do a test tonight without the isi HDR profile ( shame I like the isi one too )

Well it would bring my system to a halt. Like I said, its prolly not the same issue with your system.
For my system it was more like running into a brick wall with HDR and draining more recourses then it could handle. You seem to have plenty recourses to run things smoothly.

    hiya

no sadly it wasnt the HDR profile )-:

problem still there if i run with a HDR profile or none

I think its a problem in the rf2 software, my pc stable usually, I missed the last build but before that I never had an issue with rf2 being stable

Check Event Viewer and see what is logged for the crash. I have a feeling it may be your nVidia driver.

You can also add trace=100 in the launcher and it will create a trace log in the UserData > Log folder. This may point to what is happening, if it is a rF2 problem.
Screenshot shows where to type trace=100. Just click Save Parameters after you type it in.

Hope it helps you find the problem.

    thanks

there was something in that box :

    rFactor2 Content Inventory @ Nov 26 2013 17:35:36
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mod "SB2000 at Lime Rock 1.0" references a non-existent component "SkipBarber 1.46".
    Mod "SB2000 at Lime Rock 1.0" references a non-existent component "Skip_Barber_talent 1.46".
    Mod "SB2000 at Lime Rock 1.0" references a non-existent component "skipbarber_car 1.46".

it just crashed ( online on isi's server historics on monza )

do i need lime rock & skip barber installed too to be stable ?

No, you shouldn't need them at all, unless you want to play them.

Also, you will need to add the trace=100 in the Multi Player CLI too, to get a trace log for MP.

Did you check Event Viewer for the crash log in Windows?
There should be logs for every time rF2 or anything else crashes or has any other type error(s).

My PC just totally freezes ( something that's never really happend )
I have to do a power off & back on again so I guess there's no time for a log to be written

I might roll back the nvidia driver just to eliminate that -if it's not the software then then display driver is my first target

I keep getting freezes on the ISI historics server and softth log reports this: "1336:6170.938 SoftTH: Present failed: E_OUTOFMEMORY"

It sounds a lot like the old NVLDDMKM.dll problem that many folks used to get, myself included. It only would happen to me when running rF1. I did a reg edit years ago and that fixed it and I haven't had the problem since. But it would do exactly like you are seeing. Black screen, PC froze, had to hit Reset Button to restart the PC. However, there would be a log for it in Event Veiwer > Error. That is how I found it was a nv timeout problem.

I still think you should check Event Viewer.

    In Windows, go to;
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > in the Summary of Administrative Events section click on the [+] next to Error to expand it and see what is listed during the Last Hour or 24 Hours.

There should be some errors listed that will lead you to the cause of the crashes.

    Hopefully a reinstall helps.
Those log files may be helpful to the devs though, so it is good you posted them.
