It wouldn't do much to alter framerate I think.

Better then a flat texture! :) I don't know how hard is to implement it, but make it selectable would be the best thing to do in my opinion!!

Regarding historic Spa - really looking forward to it, thanks for working on an updated version of the track.

If I could make a suggestion? Can we have a 'league' version of the track where heybales and reflector posts are removed (the latter only visible to those who run full track details)? There is an update available to the current track and I would appreciate it if we could get something like that with the base package, selectable like a different layout. Thanks for considering.

Agree it looks out of place on a modern F1 track that is supposed to represent the official race weekend. But let's face it, historic Spa would look more authentic with 5" grass than with the flatter textures that usually look more like freshly mowed or manicured grass.

yeah historic tracks are one area itd perhaps seem not overdone. tbh i think i generally prefer really hi-res 2D grass textures. if theyre not done just right though it can be hideous whereas 3D grass seems pretty reliable.

+1. Those posts have ended my race many times. Another idea perhaps would be to make them less strong.

My opinion on 3D-grass is that the times where only flat textures are present
    should be over.
    1. You don´t have to do it 5 inch long
    2. it adds immersion and seem more realistic even if it is long
    3. it´s a matter of where on the track you add it

When working on shaders for rF1 I made a tool to gnerate 3D grass. Here are the results: LINK - Nogaro by Pixsim.
Grass alone had performance impact between 5 and 15% (depending on camera angle and LOD settings).

Of course these are the results of external tool generating something for game engine that wasn't designed for it :) With dedicated solution it could be much better.

So good grass is doable (by saying "good" I'm not referring to my rF1 grass tool), but to what could be if there was native support), but only if considered a high priority (due to efforts needed).

What we need is some kind of dynamic fully simulated system where the 3d grass gets shorter and shorter during the race weekend because the animals are eating it. [emoji2]

That really looks good! I especially like how the grass crawls up to the wall and hence conceals that otherwise very distict line between ground and wall.

How do you make vegetation move in the wind? (Wind and crowd motion has been in the display options for ages)

I do not need 3 d Grass. I wish for the update better textures (Less flimern and flashing). And I wish for a better road surface. Currently you can feel either nothing, or far too strong effects. A steering wheel out of your hands Less would be more. One should feel the road surface constantly, by tiny vibrations in the steering wheel, and in the braking zone somewhat rougher. Bumps you should feel more, but not so exaggerated.
