BTW, what happend with the bilster berg track? Did we get a confirmation on license or what? Can't remember and I was the one who created the thread even. Lol.
Oh quite the opposite if I remember correctly. I think Tim said they weren't very open towards the idea. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong though.
I reckon it was rumour started from ISI mentioning they are doing Tilke track. Well, that track turned out to be AMP.
Oh yeah, that's where it came from. It was quite fun with all the speculation and guesses back then. A Tilke track, but not boring and not used by F1 lol. They should use it for F1 lol. Give those babies 1000 bhp, stick some old school lo tech wings on them, super wide tires and watch the spectacle unfold.
I remember around the time the BTCC Civic was released Tim mentioned that Knockhill was a good possibility for licensing. Wonder if anything came of that...
Tim posted in some thread longer ago that he contacted people for Bilster Berg and they didn´t answer.....a shame. (when I remember correctly)
had no idea how new the track is, no wonder its not in iRacings DB yet, theyve been in europe since it opened. am shocked its tilke as well...this is so much better than cota. great news about the karts too, i should finally try those...really looking forward to this!
Sorry for OT, but in my eyes Tilke and he´s work is heavily misunderstood by many people! He has to follow the guidelines of the FIA and some zombie-like creature named "Eccie" or something... If they would hire another architect, the same standard tracks would appear. Tilke can clearly not do what he is able of! Reminder:Tilke is also responsible for such iconic tracks like Istanbul....
istanbul is great, i wish it was more popular! only driven it a few times when someone was converting it to AC, i think they abandoned it..but a wonderful flow to it. and youre right, would not have thought that was tilke at all.
Hopefully the track team has tested this at all ISI tracks and some 3rd party tracks ... at night, with rain, with all sorts of cars ... Anyway, Malaysia looks great in those pictures.
Yes. Let´s hope they tested it carefully and modder don´t have to tweak anything after that! However: min. 50% of existing mods won´t be updated (I fear).
I agree. Herman Tilke and his colleagues work within strict rules of FIA. Therefore almost all FIA Grade 1 tracks are "lifeless" now days. If you pay attention of trackside object details (buildings, grandstands etc.), you notice his team's creativity and innovation. Cheers
Looks really good, but I'm wishing there were some before/after side-by-side to see the difference this new tonemapper makes. It's difficult to be impressed without a comparison.
