Any mod which has a description field over 3000 chars may cause rF2 to fail to launch. The fix right now is to remove them (uninstall and remove from packages). This will be fixed in a future build, in the meantime we ask modders to limit that box to 3000 until we're doing it for you.

For me, the game doesn't start, crash inmediately with this new build, on Single Player and Online, not with Developer.

I've uninstalled completely all mods, tracks, cars...all, but the game crash anyway.

It wasn't tested with every single third party mod, legal, illegal, 'grey area', no, of course it wasn't. That's the only thing causing crashes (VERY few third-party mods - I know of 4 so far). Our mods don't, and every single mod without a 4000+ word essay in the description doesn't.

You can choose not to upgrade if you want to. And no, you're not a guinea pig, you have both a choice in this, and a reason for what is happening. Feel free to google animal testing, or even just to google software testing so you know. Our software works. Our software works with our mods. Our software works with 99% of other mods. Our software works with everything we tested with. We tested with things we could have been expected to do so. We missed something, yes. But this isn't what you're making it out to be - again.

This won't be fixed until our next build, as it's a relatively minor known issue that is easily fixed by the modders during packaging and/or the user at this point. That's not to say it wasn't an error on our part to not limit the input there, mind you.

Yikes, I am back to square one... earlier this week I went through the cars and the tracks one at a time to stop the CTD's. Got the cars and about 15 tracks done... bed time.

Same BEX crash with build 298.
I've moved all installed tracks to another folder (except Spa1966) and one by one back in place, launching the game every track.
It's something inside SearspointRW location that cause the crash, no doubt. :)
    Cheers.

It might help some people if you could list these 4 mods. We all know about Searspoint, what are the other 3?

A stock car mod and lola fun. Anything with a huge description over 4000 chars right now. There's running lists going on in the build release thread.

Where do you see the description? Are you referring to the "Status" field?

No, I didn't do it, that was the problem.

I have deleted Searspoint and everything works fine now.

    Thank you.

You can see it in mod manager pre-launch. Click once on a mod to highlight it, and the bottom left will be a 'desc' field. If that exceeds 4000 chars right now, it crashes rF2 when launched, whether installed or just in packages.

I had to uninstall SearspointRW_v135 and delete SearspointRW_v135.rfcmp from the packages directory to get the game to load.
