You're talking about Direct X 12 now, not just VR. If you don't understand the complexities there, I'll ask you to stop posting things like this before undesirable tones like this start to irritate me.

Yeah it's great to see a dev being recognized for their constant updates.

You know what, you can just spend your time on their forum telling them how easy it is to implement our features, instead of the other way around. Bye.

You can do similar with a GearVR on your phone and stream to it, but the latency probably isn't good enough for simracing. I'm going to try it when I get mine (free with my S7 Edge).

This looks just like a driver injector, which is probably gonna sit between the game and directX and/or using memory hacks to bypass DX and taking control on the game.

As every hack it's going to introduce a variety of problems, from DLL crash to multiplayer hangs, crash, lags, culling problems etc etc etc..

It's gonna be interesting btw. :)

IMO the right poll at the moment would be how many of actual users would be happy to pay for VR support. Other companies have extra income thanks to DLC content.

I would understand that someone who would be willing to spend over 1500$ worth hardware, could also provide some economic help to implement VR native support into his favourite sim.

I own a DK2 and I was expecting ISI announcement to support VR now that CV versions are in the pipeline as it was suggested in past threads asking for DK2 official support. The recent news confirming that VR will not be supported has really disappointed me. For a standard customer, watching other racing titles early implementing VR makes difficult to believe ISI dismissing it due to the complexity of doing so.

I understand that with actual policy of not hiring new people for not borrowing money from investors it is not possible to implement VR. If it pays off or not to do so, time will tell.

I wouldn't mind paying for VR support. I bought lifetime license when rF2 was released. At that time rF2 was beta. It was more or less a similar crowdfunding to what it is suggested since I couldn't actually use it after several months later.

If in a 6-12 month timeframe, the situation does not change, I think I will have to jump out of the boat before it sinks into the ocean. I am sure I will not be the only one. Maybe even someone from the crew decides to do the same before it is too late.

Why people think no VR support will mean the death of ISI is beyond me  again...for the millionth time - they've been a successful company since 1992 which is no doubt longer than many on here have been alive!

VR is not a sprint, it's a marathon, accept ISIs decision and deal with it already!

Whats the point with VR support in DX9 games ?
"Due to API and resource limitations, we’ve decided to deprecate DirectX 9 support and will be removing it from LibOVR in the near future. This will allow us to focus on future work using DirectX 11 and OpenGL that will help deliver a great VR experience on Windows. Apps that use DirectX 9 will continue to work for the foreseeable future, but they won’t compile in future SDK releases and may have additional runtime latency after we remove DirectX 9 support.

No VR support, no OSW support, one year to make only a stock car and nothing more new cars, no changes as promised in the past about rain features, no licenses of many race cars as other small developers pay, no licenses for many official race competitions, still not a PDF guide for rfactor2 users and developers, plenty of reasons to think that ISI won´t change and I respect it.

April is the month to renew my online, 18th of June Cepita´s account, end of november Cornete´s account... many of us will decide soon unless one detail from ISI staff show us a slightly change, specially in isiforums. Education is the first choice and second and third. You can have a different opinion but respect another with education. Explain and answer people in different ways than you use to make. Be rude as other guys makes you be at the same level. I think a company like ISI needs to be delicate with consumers specially guys that have worked years developing many mods to rfactor and rfactor2.

I can remind you in the feature as kind, friendly, affable, helpfull even if I decide to join another racing simulator. Great end? new opportunity? who knows.

VR for GPL !!! hehehe :D

Seems much more plausible to stick it in a new DXxx engine built from ground up yes ?

Whenever if ever that may happen.

    +1

More so I will upset a heap more people now ......... lol

Even the wishlist for Visuals inclusions , sparks, tyre effects, smoke, fog, raindrops, standing/ running water , puddles to me is perplexing.

I would prefer if ISI concentrated on Dynamics and Physics.

VR becoming a trend in sim gaming might be a slow transition, or it may be a relatively quick one (by quick I mean 2-3 years). It's hard to predict and will depend on how prices will come down. Nobody in 2006 would have predicted smartphone market 3 years forward would be dominated by touch screen. It was a complete revolution to phone usage and happened at a very quick rate, it even caused the death of the biggest phone producer by the time.

You should get Tim to update this from " Planned ", Mr. T :)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_Oculus_Rift_support

..and also the REFERENCE: 126 is linked to a 3 year old post where Tim was trying to lineup a Developers OR to test.

That's 2 new cars. AC cars and Stock Cars. The rest are updates of existing vehicles. And the boxmaster of course. He was obviously referring to cars. I guess track team has been quite active in comparison to the car team.

Indeed there are plenty of tracks to race at. But the lack of quality vehicles is a fact.

Major FUD. There is no evidence of this boat sinking anytime soon. In fact, more and more simulation centers are using rF2, and ISI is hiring more devs.

Major Disinformation. There are plenty of quality default cars in rF2 and more to come within the lifespan of the product. There were plenty of core updates to rF2 and more still to come. Stock Cars came with a whole race rules update and some more.
rF2 is a moddable sim platform and there are plenty of 3rd party cars too.

AC is a great car to fun but it´s not a GT3, GT, or any other car that is being used in modern competitions. Stock car yes. I appreciate the work in old cars updates ( for example c6r is not being used in races any more.. Camaro is still a project... ) but I thought in one year I could see more licenses or race cars than one. I don´t need 7 new cars in every DLC as other games every season, but a couple of them? Some new licenses.

I respect the way of ISI but my decission will be to choose a balance.

Thanks Euskotracks, you understood what I tried to explain

    Yeah for my apparent bashing.....

I have without reservation from the very first day described AC as the "Premier track day sim"

pCars has stunning GFX even in DX9 mode so the DirectX version is not a bottleneck I think. Not saying something is a bottleneck, I think there's some locked features in the game engine, i.e. I'm trying to get rid of the yellowish environment in a track I'm doing but I can't... fog, light, reflections, all looks yellow for some reason while I'd prefer more blue due the sky effect.

How dare a developer not support something, eh? The irony is strong here.
