I just went over the area covered by the screenshot GRAB_458, with Set Edge Length, as this area was smoothed out by hand and with the relax tool. This is the stunning result: View attachment 9937 View attachment 9938 Perfectly smooth! There is no more edges in the concrete extension outside the curbs. I'm confident to bring the track to a level much higher than I originally anticipated! The road is still long ahead, but I'm seeing the light!
Just curious if you have malware on your computer? My clicking of the links certainly doesn't take me to a "porn site" as you reported it to be. If you're getting something, you could be getting worked up trying to protect yourself from something that's already beaten you. If you don't like a link, use a different one, but please make sure a link actually does what you're saying. Sent from a mobile device using Tapatalk
Wonderful! That last image with those nice trees is really looking amazing. You are doing some great work with this track! I cannot wait to try out the next version.
Looks gorgeous! I admire you for keeping at this, I know the state of the old mesh, I would have given up right away!
I have here some pictures from the Northloop every 2 seconds... https://www.dropbox.com/sh/imu876lu32ju21r/4iqKnPFWdQ
I said it works just like bad porn- or download sites; you just can't download before you do what they want you to, even on a system with a clean install; tried 4 now. Plus; take another link.......there is none for this...... @ PorscheMR6; since you seem to make it personal; learn how to write, mind you own business and F off.
No problem with Mega here on 3 fully different computers and browser, really good site, no advertisements, clean, and pretty good speed when downloading. thanks pleclair. I feel sorry if you meet problem using Mega Navigator.
now it looks much better pleclair! are you going to upgrade the grass with a high textures grass?! keep it going mate!
Will the 0.97 oder 0.98 released till wednesday? i will show it a friend of me, that visit me then ;-)
You bet Actually, most of the textures (at least, those I can find good replacements for) will be replaced with 2048x2048 ones when I can find them (all trees are now), or whatever I can find better. Today I replaced the rumblestone (that was 128x128) in Adenauer Forst with 512x512 that I found on cgtextures. Well it was 700x700 since tiled are offered at that maximum resolution for free accounts. But cannot use 700x700 as a texture, so had to shrink to 512. When I'll be getting more donations, I'll invest in a paid account over there. There is a few textures and packs that I've spotted. All donations until I'm done with Nords, and so long as I'll need new material, I'll invest the donations in the track directly. I also replaced the 128x128 and 128x256 texture that was used on the bridge! Again, found some 700x700 on cgtextures that fitted perfectly after a little photoshopping. Here is the result, in HDR. I had to reinstall rFactor 2 when build 300 got out, so I'm running the overblown default ISI profile. So dont mind the grass color... you already all know what it looks like anyway. Also look at the tarmac.. but this isnt the best example, as it is a pretty smooth tarmac, other areas would be better candidate to really show what I mean View attachment 9949 Yesterday, I played with CrazyBump and did bump/spec maps for all the different road textures, curbs, and couple others. Still need to tinker a bit, but the result is amazing. No more generic bump map applied to all road element, so now every road details from all different textures pops out! Too bad, I removed my wheel after 0.96, because I was still working with a wheel in front of me at that time! So now I only try it with my gamepad... basically only getting out of pit at red flag, and letting the ai drive (the ai wont go out before red...).. I think bump maps affect ffb, so we will be feeling more details now, I would think. I'm heading for a complete overhaul of the track EDIT: When I say bump maps, I mean normal maps... not the grayscale bump map. EDIT2: Look at the bridge, no more white filling in the fences or whatever you are calling this (can anyone tells me how this part is called, I'd like to search for textures, fences didnt returned anything that looked alike) Also the black top that was present is no longer, the texture had no alpha channel. I made one and cutted out the holes and removed the black top.
Actually, I'd like to go further once the road is done, and 1.0 is out. I'd like to smoothen out the landscape a little and make the hills and areas like that a little less blocky. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist, so I'll be doing my very best Now, if you ask me if I'm proud of the track atm, yes I am, it sure is a great improvement already, since I started. But it is far to look like I want it to look tho I know how special this track is now, and it is for many people, and since rF2 is almost at the start of its life, it will likely be played for a very long while, so might as well do something worth it Like I said, I'm no pro, so I'll take the track to where I can, and when I learn new things, I'm not lazy to go back and redo, even if the track is 20km. But after I'm done, if someone, or a group of people feels like they can improve further, I'll gladly pass my max file, along with anything I did (PSDs, whatever) so they can save the hassle of importing and everything. The only thing I'll ask, is all work must be returned to the community. No Max file must be kept private. And all assets must stay within nords, since there will likely be quite a few bought textures and models (saw a very nice pack of low poly 3d trees, 80 of them )
plecair, doing good my friend. One thing, I almost hate to bring it up, but those evergreens are not right. the leaves on the branches are humongous and totally out of proportion, compared to the deciduous trees. Please investigate this. I'm sure that I am right, plenty of experience in the wilderness.
Not exactly sure of which tree you are speaking of, I'd have to search for evergreens.. (can you post a screenshot and tell me which one?) However, at this point, the goal is to fix the track itself, and do a little texture swap to increase eye candy. I think that all trees replaced looks much better than what was originally there. I also have many more trees at my disposition and will likely change a few of them again, hard to get familiar with the lot of them. Later on, past v1.0, I'll be going after little details, like trying to match the tree lines of the real track etc... but for now, it would be not wise to go after such details, when there is clearly much more pressing matters At the moment, I do not have any more funds to spend on textures. There are free textures, but trees are an area that is weak in the free... hard to find good looking trees, with proper lighting, and alpha masked. I do not have time to manually remove trees from backgrounds found on many free sites. Like I said, all donations from now. Actually all donations after my upgrade all went to the project directly. Scripts, textures, 3dsimed v3.
