What graphics card should I buy if I want:

    • triple monitors with one card (Eyefinity or Surround)
    • 60 FPS minimum on Silverstone with 20 AI cars
    • All settings maxed out

and I'd like to stay below 1000 US$?

(Bonus for youtube video links showing the setup :)

ATM I'm oriented towards Nvidia, but prove me wrong.
Also, does it matter which manufacturer? Is there any substantial difference between a Gigabyte/ PNY/ Evga, etc..?

    Thanks! :)

I would get a GTX 780 if I had that much money for a graphics card right now. Or a Titan if I wanted to spend the whole $1000

I'd avoid the dual GPU on one PCB video cards. They do not produce video that is as smooth as single GPU cards do becasue they are using SLI. For that kind of money, go get a Titan. Yes, the 790 is going to be a bit faster but they are both SO FAST you won't notice the difference. But the Titan runs cooler, quieter and will run a smoother 60FPS without dropped or runt frames. That said, I think a 780 would deliver 60FPS no problem.

The Titan will take all your $1000, the 780 will be around $700.

The Titan is not worth the considerable extra cash for a small % increase in performance. Even the 780 is overpriced in my opinion.

Get a 780 and overclock it if necessary.

Otherwise wait to see what AMD's upcoming 9970 brings to the table, although people say Nvidia cards are better suited to rF2.

What I liked of the GTX 690 there is that I'd get 4Gb of VRAM, compared to the 2Gb of the 680 or 3Gb of the 780.

It's a dual GPU, so the available VRAM for each GPU is 2GB, because both GPUs have to load the same textures etc. If possible go for a single GPU solution.

Got it now. Guy mentioned it too, but I didn't know about the 690 being dual GPU. Thanks.

I just did a test with my GTX760 4GB EVGA card. I tested on ISI Silverstone, in the rain, grid of 26 AI using the Mod That Shall Not Be Named Lest I get Banned Again and the video memory used peaked out at over 2300 MB. 5040x1050 resolution, high to medium settings. So going for a minimum 3GB card would be a good idea.

    FPS?

I actually turned down all settings to low except shadows on high, and it's so much better running around 70-90 fps.

    i5 2500k 6950 2gb.

Those settings are a bit ambitious for a GTX760 @ 5040x1050, it's really been aimed at good performance with high settings @ 1080 in the newest titles.

I would wait a bit...at least october when, as already mentioned, amd releases the 9970...Secondly, AMD is working on a new driver model that should reduce CF stuttering...to be verified. With the Titan being out, lots of things are going on in the GPU market right now... normally this affect prices positively.
On the other side, if you can afford the Titan, why not. According to many people(not all) rf2 even works better with nvidia.

My personal experience is as follows:
I can't run rF2 with decent settings with my 7970 (OCed to 1200) and an AMD 965BE@ 3800 on tripple screen. I have low fps and stuttering. (no... I will not edit any plr files etc.... I spent hours with it without any noticable difference...). Anyway, the point was: one 7970 is not enough for rf2 (for other sim-racing-games it does) in tripple screen...
btw: regarding the choice of the manufacturer: Yes, there are differences. Some have better (less noisy) cooling or provide better overclocking capability. The latter can help you get a much faster card for the same money. > always check out for reviews and never base your choice on single source-;)

several of us have 690s and are getting good performance (max details, 30 cars visible, 60 fps on grid, 100+ in game with my config)... the sli issues with two cards are worse than with a one card dual gpu solution... I have had no problems in any game besides Trials evolution with the 690, and 690 for the most part is still fastest gpu around by performance although the bigger buffer on the titan is attractive

    radeon 6970 2gb
    phenomII 955 black edition @ 3.6ghz
    8gb 1333mhz ddr3 ram

    3 monitors, 3x19" @ 4532x900
    1 monitor for telemetry @ 1024x768

i run all medium settings, no aa, no vsync, 16 cars visible.

on silverstone i get between 50-100 fps, drops to 50 at a couple of corners, max 100 hanger straight. its always perfectly smooth, no stutters no big fps drops, using 13.4 drivers, so i dont get the amd cards dont run well in rfactor 2, all my componants and peripherals are a few years old and runs just fine here :)

    @ Cracheur
4GB of ram for 64bit Win7 is rather low.
Adds two and you'll see it's going to change your life :)

the more memory buffer the better so go a 6gig or 4gig card i use the evga gtx680 4 gig cannot still max a couple of things but RF2 has not finished optimization so expect to be able to when that's done. but i still get 72 FPS at silverstone in the pits. shadows not maxed or reflections but every thing else maxed.. think about 50/60 all maxed out been a few builds since i checked. very happy with the card.

Yea, I just got one - just for a single monitor @ 1920x1080 & it's the dog's bollocks for the money

Got my Silverstone fps (cockpit view going past the new pit buildings) from approx 24 to 75

    You want cardS -- 2 x GTX 670 minimum I'd say.
