In rF1, I'd just overwrite the original sounds with new ones, but as we can't unpack .mas files or just place a sound file beside and let it be picked up first.. Is it possible AT ALL to change the ambient sounds? Or is it possible to make a new mod with new ambient sounds? I have found the sounds unpacked in ModDev but just packing them and placing the .mas doesn't work..

Right now no other way than repacking or as update.
We all do hope that ISI will add some more simple way to update mods, maybe something like we have for adding skins in diferent folders where you can easy add and delete files would be great.

IMHO free .mas files should be able to "pick up" files that are beside. But rfcmp or rfmod files should not, to retain moder protection and prevent mismatches.
