Ok Im not a pc guru and struggling a bit with all these updates etc. Can I start fresh , ie. delete everything and just download latest versions of everything . I seem to have lost the real road thingy as tracks dont rubber up anymore, I can only drive on very few servers 6 or 8 eventhough I have most of the tracks and mods ( obviously some are different versions). please help
What I am going to do. Leave everything become a mess as I can't find my head arround in all the stuff. As soon as the Gold version comes out, I will delete everything and re-download everything and then install it all.
Reinstall is a good thing, usually solves many problems. Best way is to save your Packages folder somewhere so you dont have to d/l all again. Perhaps you could save your Controller and Player folder too, as they have all your settings. Remember after you uninstall to go and delete Rfactor2 folder from your Program Files. Install all ISI stuff first, see if everything is ok and then install modders stuff.
I`d make backups of the Packages folder and any other folders (Installed, UserData etc) that you want to keep then completely uninstall everything and install the latest build (b198) and just install the individual components and latest versions of cars/tracks etc... I`ve chosen to only install the latest versions and updates just now and wait for the other stuff to be updated but that may not suit you bwana if you need or want to go online etc as older versions may still be needed for doing that... I personally hate it when things get too messy so that`s what I`ve chosen to do atm...
That's what I decided to do a couple of weeks ago - clear out the packages folder and only install the latest components. Keeps it nice and simple.
He calls himself Chump for crying out loud, lol. 1) A foolish person. 2) An easily deceived person; a sucker. Don't hate me...hate google definition. If he finds rf2 to be a weirdo game and praises iracing, let him. Shouldn't restrict any appraisals/opinions, good or bad. Merit not the point but the quality of the point.
Thanks for the replies guys, unistalled, had saved all previous downloads on external HD so just loaded latest ISI and feel3 stuff.seems much neater although track still not rubbering up like it had done and now lost reflections on bonnet of cars? all graphic settings on max ,latest direct x.. any ideas?
can u upload example pic of issue in game and settings menu in-game and in the settings of the rf2 loader.
Rubbering is much more subtle in the last versions with the updated tracks. With the same "quantity" of rubber you won't see the track so dark.
I plan to use this beta period to decide what content I like (Megane, Mills, etc) and then simply delete what I don't (Historics, Monza, etc) when the final game comes out. That way I won't have as much content to update and it will save more room for mods like the modern F3 machine.
Yeh, the updated tracks don`t rubber in as much graphically I reckon but the rubber, and therefor, grip is still being put down on track... Not sure why you would have lost the reflections if all your settings are maxed though. A pic or two may help as the good Dr suggests...
Your not a fan of the historics then 777... I really like them... just out of curiosity, what don`t you like about them?
I suggest only saving your packages folder. When you do an uninstall it will leave the RF2 data folder. Delete everything in there but your packages. Reinstall new full install then reinstall the mods you want one by one. Older settings from your userdata may screw things up when changing game versions.
