Since updating to Build 198 I have not been able to even jump in a car to run around the track. Everything was working fine previous build.

Can load the game and pick any car as per normal throught the menu system.

Im able to Load a track. Gets through the loading screen fine.

Basically im sitting in the pits and just after i click the race button to try and run a few laps around the circuit it crashes straight to desktop.

Any Idea's as to whats going on or be causing this? Anyone had a similar issue.

About to systematically run through each of the graphics settings and enable disable one by one to see if anything different occurs.

    Cheers

I've got exactly the same problem - I can't drive anything.
I just uninstalled and did a fresh install - same story.

Ok, went through the mod manager and uninstalled everything. Ran a verification of my install which came up with a few errors. Unistalled the game completely.

Installed the Lite Installer - then added a couple of mods and tracks back in to the game.

All seems to have fixed the issue. Im guessing something got corrupted along the way when updating.
Will add more mods and see what happens.

Will be glad when things get tidied up a bit with the way the mod installing works.

Im hating having to scour the net looking for the mod and its download link, would be so much better if there was a way that could be implemented where the game could do that work for you. Inform you of an update to a particular mod, then go find it for you, download and install.

There are two theorys about that right now.

    1) This happens with mods installed which start with a number in the filename
    2) This happens when too much mods are installed

Not sure if the dev's already found a solution, but this bug should be known and be worked on.

I too am having issue with game crashing to desktop usually right after entering a game, did not have these issues previous build..I did a integrity check and these came up??
One or more critical simulation files failed verification.
    Installed/Sounds/TMTires/1.0c/tmtires.mft failed verification.
    Installed/Sounds/TMTires/1.0c/TMTires.mas failed verification.
    Installed/Nations/nations/1.0/nations.mft failed verification.
    Installed/Nations/nations/1.0/nations.mas failed verification.
    Installed/Commentary/Commentary/1.0/commentary.mft failed verification.
    Installed/Commentary/Commentary/1.0/CommentaryEnglish-USA.mas failed verification.

Hopefully a reinstall will address the issues...

uninstalled all tracks/vmods......reinstalled build 198 lite(Is there a full install?)
    reinstalled all tracks
go online...pick game...starts to install mod
    error...missing a slew of tracks...but I have re-installed all these tracks????

So utterly frustrated!!!! Totally uuseable now,I wish I never installed new build now...if
I ever get it back running again I'm very reluctant to install new builds again :(

HELP!! I love RF2 but this is just killing that love

Have re-installed (lite version) did integrity check..al passed.... game crashes to desktop immediately
    after entering game??????
    this is getting frustrating...

Well,I'm just about at the end of the rope....I have unistalled all tracks/cars ..reinstalled... still crashing

how can I start from very beginning ISI? without screwing up licence

    uninstall ff2...delete all in registry???

I'm thinking I have to start from the core....by installing build 198 lite over the core is not working

Build 158 was working just fine...I did have issues in build previous to this but was able to find way past them...but this is
    unbelievable!!!!

I'm not ready to give up yet...but i'm getting close

So...start from build 156 from scratch?? go to build 198 and then start installing content I'm guessing????

Try this Fellas (Gals if applicable)

Delete the current desktop icon/shortcut to the rFactor2.exe

Create a new desktop shortcut, right click on properties..In the start in..even if it is listed there, delete the field and re-enter:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\rFactor2" same as it looks right there. (or the path to the install )

I noticed that if you do a complete purge of all files and registry keys with a un-install, and install a fresh copy, even though it does put the path, I was getting the same as above OP posted.

Once I did what I responded back with, It loads every timer now..

Edit: One other thing, I was letting the software create the desktop shortcut after the fresh install was completed.

    Just a thought..

Another thing comes to mind, Have you done any Microsoft updates, or know if it did any auto updates.

It might have re-enabled DEP (Data Execution Prevention) or even removed the exception one might have created at a earlier
    point in time.
