I'm too scared to mod the volts.
What do you get on Unigine Heaven benchmark....1080p extreme preset...?

I have a Sapphire 7970 oc boost and I'm now running at 1100/1550. Memory is pretty much maxed since I got some artifacts in FC3 1570. I think theres still some in the core left. This is at 1.13v

Sorry for OT but how is the performance with the 7970 with triples and with a single screen?
Thinking of buying one tomorrow primary for rF2.

Don't want to think too much about buying it, either I just go and buy it or just don't think about it. Always a pain. lol

I have a reference 7970 @1250 core/1700 mem @1250mV 68degrees under full load. 5872x1080 everything as high as it goes except for shadows and road reflections. |Feels3 tracks ~80-90fps| |Limerock 60-70fps| Spa 60-50fps|

After some further testing it was my core which was giving me artifacts. No matter how I pushed the voltage (only dared going to 1275mv for a test). Eventually had to settle at 1130@1200mv for the core, memory still has some headroom, thats at 1575 now :p.
Incredible how u guys get over 1200!

What temperatures are you guys getting and what is safe? I can get 1000@1.067V for the core but I'm getting 70C on my XFX double D.

I tried playing with overclocking last night. I have a Gigabyte 7950 with a default 1000 MHz/1250 MHz core/memory clock.

I searched for "stable overclocks" for my card, and some maxed it in MSI Afterburner at 1200 MHz/1575 MHz with Power +20%. Tried it, but it locked up my computer. I lowered it down to 1100 MHz/1375 MHz and still got a lockup. I lowered it down to 1050 MHz/1300 MHz and still got a lockup. So now I just changed it back to default. I'm new to overclocking and unsure why it was locking up. The temps only reached about 70 deg celcius according to Afterburner.

I have the same card, have you increased the fan speed with the overclock?
I increased mine to 50% and the card never reaches higher than 60 w/e i turn it up too.

I left the fan control on auto in Afterburner. I've read that you only need to start worrying once temps get into the 80-90 deg range.

BTW, the game it crashed in was Tomb Raider. I played with overclocking again last night, and I was able to reach 1200 MHz core clock / 1300 MHz memory clock while playing rFactor 2. However, with the same settings, it still crashed in Tomb Raider again. I guess it's a difference between a DX9 game and a DX11 game? And the fps difference was maybe only 10 fps increase, so hardly seems worth it to me.

What overclock settings are you running?

Thanks. It seems like I could OC high and it would be fine in rF2. But if I load up Tomb Raider, it will just crash. I might as well not bother. With the amount of time I have wasted trying to get a stable OC, I could have been enjoying rF2 (even if it is butt ugly :p).

If it isn't too much trouble, could you do a race with the skip barber w/ 25 AI on Limerock and tell me how much FPS you get and what ingame settings you use?

Sure. I am mostly interested in you running it with OC and without OC to see how much of a difference the OC really makes.
